Disentangling the effects of climate change in a mountain lake through community structure analysis

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 70, Issue 8, Page 2142-2157, August 2025.
Abstract Pressures of climate change may trigger regime shifts in ecosystems. Identifying signs of these pressures before the critical transition remains challenging, and it could be useful to anticipate the regime shift. In this research, while exploiting the case of a lacustrine ecosystem, which passed from an unvegetated, phytoplankton‐dominated ...

Water ecological requirements of Characeae taxa in eastern Spain

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2023
Presence of Characeae taxa is limited by the existence of clear and oligotrophic waters. Some other chemical water parameters can also influence the distribution of taxa, which can thus be used as ecological bioindicators.

ParAquaSeq, a Database of Ecologically Annotated rRNA Sequences Covering Zoosporic Parasites Infecting Aquatic Primary Producers in Natural and Industrial Systems

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 6, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Amplicon sequencing tools such as metabarcoding are commonly used for thorough characterisation of microbial diversity in natural samples. They mostly rely on the amplification of conserved universal markers, mainly ribosomal genes, allowing the taxonomic assignment of barcodes.

MOVEMENTS OF WATER IN CELLS OF NITELLA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Physiology, 1949
When one end of a Nitella cell (A) is bathed in water and a solution of sucrose is placed at the other (B) we find that water enters at A, travels along inside the cell, and escapes at B. The solutes which cannot pass out through the protoplasm at B remain behind so that the osmotic pressure increases at B and diminishes at A until equilibrium is ...
