Biocompatibility and hemocompatibility of surface‐modified NiTi alloys
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, 2003AbstractNickel titanium (NiTi) shape memory alloys have been investigated for several years with regard to biomedical applications. However, little is known about the influences of surface modifications on the biocompatibility of these alloys. The effects of a range of surface treatments were investigated.

Selective de-alloying of NiTi by oxochloridation
Corrosion Science, 2008Abstract The systematic modification of a nickel–titanium-alloy by annealing in a complex gas atmosphere was investigated. A mixture of HCl and H2O in inert argon was chosen. The reaction kinetics was investigated at 600 °C, 700 °C and 800 °C. The reaction kinetics displayed a significant dependence on the temperature.

Effects of sterilization processes on NiTi alloy: Surface characterization
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 2000Sterilization is required for using any device in contact with the human body. Numerous authors have studied device properties after sterilization and reported on bulk and surface modifications of many materials after processing. These surface modifications may in turn influence device biocompatibility.

Fabrication of Supersaturated NiTi(Al) Alloys by Mechanical Alloying
Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2010A supersaturated NiTi(Al) alloy powder was produced from NiTi and Al powders by solid-state synthesis utilizing high-energy mechanical alloying with times up to 8 h. The microstructure and phase composition of the milling products were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis.

Investigations of endodontic instruments in NiTi superelastic alloy
1999Endodontic instruments in NiTi alloy, useful in dentistry for restorative procedures, are investigated in terms of functionality, mechanical wear and temperature dependence. The instruments are studied by dynamical mechanical thermal analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, wear tests and scanning electron microscopy.
