Highly biocompatible porous NiTi alloys
Nickel Titanium alloys have proved to be a perfect choice for materials used for medical devices like catheters, pacemakers and stone removal mesh. However, there are some challenges related to the shape and size modifications required to suffice the ...

Laser powder bed fusion of JIS SKD61 tool steel is systematically optimized using a Taguchi design and ANOVA. Hatch spacing and layer thickness are identified as dominant parameters controlling surface roughness and tensile strength. Subsequent tempering at 600°C improves microstructural stability and mechanical performance, enabling high‐density SKD61

In-situ investigation of dynamic deformation in NiTi shape memory alloys under laser induced shock
The free surface particle velocity of NiTi target shocked with a pulsed laser beam was measured with a photonic Doppler velocimetry (PDV) system to study the dynamic deformation behavior of NiTi alloys at ultra-high strain rate of 10(6)similar to 10(7)/s.

In patients undergoing secondary SEMS placement after initial uncovered stent failure, fully covered and uncovered SEMSs showed comparable patency, survival, and safety. However, mechanisms of recurrent biliary obstruction differed by stent type, with tumor ingrowth in uncovered SEMSs and sludge or food impaction in fully covered SEMSs.

Hemocompatibility investigation of the NiTi alloy implanted with tantalum
A composite TiO(2)/Ta(2)O(5) nano-film has been formed on the NiTi shape memory alloy by Ta implantation. The wettability, protein adsorption, platelets adhesion and hemolysis tests are conducted to evaluate the hemocompatibility. The contact angle measurements showed that the surface of the NiTi alloy kept hydrophilic before and after Ta implantation,

Nanoprecipitate characterisation in NiTi and aluminium alloys: A TEM‐based overview
Abstract Nanoscale precipitates are central to the functional and mechanical performance of many advanced alloys, yet their characteristics and spatial distributions can be directly resolved only by electron microscopy. In this poster‐style article, focused ion beam‐prepared TEM lamellae are used to provide a microscopy‐focused overview of ...

Fracture control parameters for NiTi based shape memory alloys [PDF]
In this paper new fracture control parameters for Nickel–Titanium (NiTi) based shape memory alloys (SMAs) are proposed, based on a recent literature analytical model on fracture mechanics of SMAs.
