Superelasticity of Geometrically Graded NiTi Shape Memory Alloys

open access: yesMetals, 2023
A stress plateau with a strain of 5–8% normally occurs during the stress-induced martensite transformation (SIM) of NiTi shape memory alloys. Within the stress plateau, the correlation between the stress and strain is lost, which limits their application

Laser powder bed fusion of NiTi: effect of laser power and scanning speed on phase transformation temperatures [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Despite the growing use of powder bed fusion laser beam in metals (PBF-LB/M) to fabricate NiTi shape memory alloys, the interplay between process parameters and functional performance remains poorly understood, hindered by small-scale studies that fail ...

Cycling model for a NiTi Shape Memory Alloy

open access: yesProcedia Structural Integrity, 2021
Shape memory alloys are more and more used in many fields of mechanics and medicine. The reason of the success is the ability to recover the initial shape also after high values of deformation. During the deformation, the SMA are able to change the structure from an initial structure, often named as austenite, to a final structure named martensite ...

Vacancies in NiTi shape memory alloys [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2014
NiTi shape memory alloys were examined with a mono-energetic positron beam. The thermal vacancy formation enthalpy was found to be 0.77±0.08 eV. Upon heating NiTi the martensitic S value is retained to temperatures significantly above the phase transition temperature and then decreases towards the austenitic value only gradually.
