The surface tension of molten TlNO/sub 3/ has been measured over the temperature range 220-350 /sup 0/C, using the maximum bubble pressure method. We have also measured the surface tension of the binary mixtures TlNO/sub 3/-LiNO/sub 3/ and TlNO/sub 3/-KNO/sub 3/ at 350 /sup 0/C over the entire composition range. 3 tables, 2 figures.

Nitrate transport: a key step in nitrate assimilation
Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 1998The nitrate assimilation pathway has been the matter of intensive research during the past decade. Many genes involved in low and high affinity nitrate uptake have been identified in fungi, algae and, more recently, in plants. The plant genes so far isolated are transcriptionally regulated; their inducibility by nitrate seems to be a common feature ...

Nitrates are salts of the nitric acid (HNO3). It has been estimated that one quarter of the initial Martian atmospheric molecular nitrogen today is fixed in the form of nitrates in the soil. A possible formation process of these nitrates is the dissociation of the atmospheric molecular nitrogen through shock heating caused by impacts or through ...

1985Abstract : Work has been focused on developing efficient methods of preparing 4-alkyl-nitrocyclohexadienones and 4-alkyl-4-nitrocyclohexadienols by batch and flow processes. Detailed studies of the thermal and acid-catalyzed rearrangements of 4-alkyl-4-nitrocyclohexadienones have been made, leading to mechanistic assignments that may have broader ...
