Biochemical properties of Paracoccus denitrificans FnrP:Reactions with molecular oxygen and nitric oxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In Paracoccus denitrificans, three CRP/FNR family regulatory proteins, NarR, NnrR and FnrP, control the switch between aerobic and anaerobic (denitrification) respiration.

Cathepsin K Aggravates Pulmonary Fibrosis Through Promoting Fibroblast Glutamine Metabolism and Collagen Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CTSK plays a critical role in pulmonary fibrosis. Excessive CTSK accumulation interacts with SNX9 to enhance TGF‐β1‐induced SMAD3 activation and GLS1 expression in fibroblasts, driving glutamine metabolism for collagen biosynthesis and exacerbating pulmonary fibrosis.

Seasonal variation in denitrification and dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonia process rates and corresponding key functional genes along an estuarine nitrate gradient

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
This research investigated spatial-temporal variation in benthic bacterial community structure, rates of denitrification and dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium (DNRA) processes and abundances of corresponding genes and transcripts at three sites

Effects of CO2 enrichment on photosynthesis, growth, and nitrogen metabolism of the seagrass Zostera noltii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Seagrass ecosystems are expected to benefit from the global increase in CO2 in the ocean because the photosynthetic rate of these plants may be C-i-limited at the current CO2 level.

Natural Allelic Variations in IbCHYR1–IbZnFR Complex Regulate Fusarium Root Rot Resistance in Sweet Potato

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FfRlpA2, a conserved Fusarium effector, functions as a protease inhibitor by hijacking the E3 ubiquitin ligase IbCHYR1 to degrade the resistance factor IbZnFR, thereby promoting Fusarium pathogenicity. Conversely, the high dosage Pro::IbZnFRHap2 allele was associated with resistance to root rot disease.

Importance of the two dissimilatory (Nar) nitrate reductases in the growth and nitrate reduction of the methylotrophic marine bacterium Methylophaga nitratireducenticrescens JAM1

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
Methylophaga nitratireducenticrescens JAM1 is the only reported Methylophaga species capable of growing under anaerobic conditions with nitrate as electron acceptor.

Differential regulatory role of nitric oxide in mediating nitrate reductase activity in roots of tomato (Solanum lycocarpum).

open access: yesAnnals of Botany, 2009
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Nitric oxide (NO) has been demonstrated to stimulate the activity of nitrate reductase (NR) in plant roots supplied with a low level of nitrate, and to affect proteins differently, depending on the ratio of NO to the level of protein.

Accounting for ALA Natural Mutations Enhances the Efficiency of Graphene Oxide Nanopriming in Bar‐Modified Arabidopsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanopriming enhances plant resilience to environmental challenges; however, its effectiveness across diverse genetic backgrounds, including genetic modifications and natural variations, remains uncertain. These findings demonstrate that nanopriming improves efficacy when natural genetic variations are considered, particularly in genetically modified ...

In silico prediction of silver nitrate nanoparticles and Nitrate Reductase A (NAR A) interaction in the treatment of infectious disease causing clinical strains of E. coli

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2020
Background: The interaction of specially designed nanoparticles with proteins is the basis of formation of a nanoparticle-protein corona. Silver nanoparticles and molecules have been used in many fields due to their strong antimicrobial activity against ...

Regulation and Symbiotic Role of nirK and norC Expression in Rhizobium etli

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2011
Rhizobium etli CFN42 is unable to use nitrate for respiration and lacks nitrate reductase activity as well as the nap or nar genes encoding respiratory nitrate reductase.
