Acetylation‐Deacetylation‐Driven Natural Product Biosynthesis

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the role of acetylation‐deacetylation in natural product biosynthesis, including acetylation followed by deacetylation after several biosynthetic steps, acetylation‐mediated rearrangement, acetylation‐triggered elimination, and the acetylation cycle as a regulatory mechanism. These processes are vital for the formation of complex

Chemical Evolution of Early Macromolecules: From Prebiotic Oligopeptides to Self‐Organizing Biosystems via Amyloid Formation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
APR‐A, an aggregation‐prone oligopeptide, can convert into APR‐B through distinct mutational pathways—some exclusively forming insoluble amyloid‐like peptides, others yielding water‐soluble, non‐aggregating monomers. These orthogonal pathways in chemical evolution may have driven macromolecular assembly under prebiotic Earth conditions, potentially ...

In Vitro Psilocybin Synthesis by Co‐Immobilized Enzymes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The drug candidate and psychedelic mushroom product psilocybin was produced by multienzyme‐charged beads in a biocatalytic cell‐free approach. Using immobilized fungal indolethylamine biosynthetic and additional bacterial enzymes, these beads turned over 4‐hydroxy‐l‐tryptophan to psilocybin.
