Research progress of electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate in wastewater to ammonia

open access: yesGongye shui chuli
As a common pollutant in surface and groundwater, nitrate causes serious pollution to the environment. Electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate to ammonia promotes nitrogen cycle in water.

In silico and in vitro exploration of a tyrosinase for biocatalytic production of catechols

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tyrosinase from Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum is a promising biocatalyst for producing valuable catechols from monophenol substrates. This tyrosinase is uniquely suited to this due to its high monophenolase : diphenolase ratio. We combined in silico docking and in vivo kinetic characterisation of this tyrosinase with 11 industrially relevant monophenols,

Monitoring nitrate reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The mainly agricultural input of \(NO_{3}\)\(^{-}\) and compliance with drinking water guideline values pose major challenges for many water suppliers. Additionally, associated changes in hydrochemistry, especially concerning products of \(NO_{3}^{-}\) reduction (\(Fe^{2+/3+}\), \(Mn^{2+/4+}\), \(Ca^{2+}\), \(Mg^{2+}\), \(SO_4\)\(^{2-}\), \(HCO_3\)\(^-\

Purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 for phase separation studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe detailed protocols for the purification and preparation of Marchantia polymorpha Auxin Response Factor 2 (MpARF2). This protein is fused to an MBP solubility tag and an mNG fluorescent tag and is purified from Escherichia coli. The presented procedures make it possible to study MpARF2 assemblies, which could arise from phase separation ...

De novo synthesis of short‐chain aldehydes and hydrocarbons secreted by the brown marmorated stink bug Halyomorpha halys

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, mainly secretes 4‐oxo‐(E)‐2‐hexenal, (E)‐2‐decenal, dodecane and tridecane, a mixture representative of that released by many heteropterans. We demonstrated that H. halys can synthesise these secretory components de novo using dietary glucose.

Tidally driven outwelling of dissolved carbon and nitrate from the largest mangroves of China

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The Zhanjiang Mangrove National Nature Reserve (ZMNNR) is the largest mangrove in China. However, fluxes of lateral exports of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), and nitrate from the ZMNNR remain unknown, hindering us from ...

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...

Characteristics and Potential Activity of Aerobic Denitrifying Bacteria from Fish Farming Ponds

open access: yesBerkala Sainstek
The presence of inorganic nitrogen in the aquaculture environment is inseparable from the nitrogen cycle. The nitrogen cycle always involves microbiological processes, including the activity of microorganisms. Denitrification is one of the main processes
