Dietary nitrates have hemodynamic and metabolic effects on the body. This study aimed to investigate nitrate intake's effect on quadricep muscle oxygen saturation (StO2) of semi-professional soccer players during a repeated speed test (RSA).

Photochemical production and evolution of selected C2-C5 alkyl nitrates in tropospheric air influenced by Asian outflow [PDF]
The photochemical production and evolution of six C2-C5 alkyl nitrates (ethyl-, 1-propyl-, 2-propyl-, 2-butyl-, 2-pentyl-, and 3-pentyl nitrate) was investigated using selected data from 5500 whole air samples collected downwind of Asia during the ...

Comment on "Atmospheric ionization by high-fluence, hard spectrum solar proton events and their probable appearance in the ice core archive" by A.L. Melott et al [PDF]
Melott et al. [2016] suggest that individual solar proton events (SPEs) are detectable as nitrate ion spikes in ice cores. They use the high fluence, high energy (hard spectrum) SPE of 23 February 1956 to calculate an enhancement of HNO3 from the surface to 46 km that is equivalent to a ~120 ng cm-2 nitrate ion spike observed in the GISP2H ice core ...

Low time resolution analysis of polar ice cores cannot detect impulsive nitrate events [PDF]
Ice cores are archives of climate change and possibly large solar proton events (SPEs). Wolff et al. (2012) used a single event, a nitrate peak in the GISP2-H core, which McCracken et al. (2001a) time associated with the poorly quantified 1859 Carrington event, to discredit SPE-produced, impulsive nitrate deposition in polar ice.

Understanding links between water-quality variables and nitrate concentration in freshwater streams using high-frequency sensor data [PDF]
Real time monitoring using in situ sensors is becoming a common approach for measuring water quality within watersheds. High frequency measurements produce big data sets that present opportunities to conduct new analyses for improved understanding of water quality dynamics and more effective management of rivers and streams.

Abundances and variability of tropospheric volatile organic compounds at the South Pole and other Antarctic locations [PDF]
Multiyear (2000-2006) seasonal measurements of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, halogenated species, dimethyl sulfide, carbonyl sulfide and C1-C4 alkyl nitrates at the South Pole are presented for the first time.

Does thiosemicarbazide lead nitrate (TSLN) crystal exist? [PDF]
The authors of a recent paper (Optik 125 (2014) 2022-2025) claim to have grown a so called thiosemicarbazide lead nitrate (TSLN) crystal by the slow evaporation method. In this comment we prove that TSLN is actually thiosemicarbazide.

Competitive reaction modelling in aqueous systems. The case of contemporary reduction of dichromates and nitrates by nZVI [PDF]
In various Countries, Cr(VI) still represents one of the groundwater pollutant of major concern, mainly due to its high toxicity, furthermore enhanced by the synergic effect in presence of other contaminants.
