Nanolayer‐Encapsulated Stretchable Liquid‐Metal Sheets for Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stretchable liquid metal sheet with both high thermal conductivity and mechanical flexibility is developed. Its trilayer structure, comprising copper‐particle‐dispersed gallium liquid metal encapsulated by styrene‐butadiene‐styrene nanosheets, shows 40.4 W m−1 K−1 conductivity, elongation exceeding 200%, and retention of 96% of its initial ...

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...

Atomic defects and dopants in ternary Z-phase transition-metal nitrides CrMN with M=V, Nb, Ta investigated with density functional theory

open access: yes, 2017
A density functional theory study of atomic defects and dopants in ternary Z-phase transition-metal nitrides CrMN with M=V, Nb, or Ta is presented. Various defect formation energies of native point defects and of substitutional atoms of other metal ...

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Erosion Corrosion Evaluation of CrN/AlN Multilayer Coatings, by Varying the Velocity and Impact Angle of the Particle

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2013
In order to provide solutions to erosion corrosion in industrial devices, thin films of CrN/AlN were deposited on AISI D3 steel substrates using a magnetron sputtering system multitarget with rf (13.56 MHz), from Al and Cr targets of high purity (99.99%)

Cr doped III-V nitrides: potential candidates for spintronics

open access: yes, 2011
Studies of Cr-doped III-V nitrides, dilute magnetic alloys, in the zinc-blende crystal structure are presented. The objective of the work is to investigate half-metallicity in Al(0.75)Cr(0.25)N, Ga(0.75)Cr(0.25)N and In(0.75)Cr(0.25)N for their possible ...
