The impact of ultrasonic treatment on activity of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria in activated sludge

open access: yes, 2019
The ultrasonic treatment of sludge has been considered as an effective method to facilitate the partial nitritation of municipal sewage. This study aims to reveal the effects of ultrasound on ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and nitrite-oxidizing ...

Lowering salivary pH with sugar‐containing gum augments salivary nitrite production and blood pressure reduction with dietary nitrate (beetroot juice)

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Acutely lowering salivary pH (with sugar‐containing acidic gum vs. sugar‐free gum) augments salivary nitrate reduction to nitrite, plasma nitrite concentration, and blood pressure lowering with dietary nitrate. Modifying salivary pH reveals a mechanism by which the nitrate‐nitrite‐NO pathway may be upregulated/inhibited, with potential for other ...

Synthetic Strategies for Activity‐Based Probes to Decode Ubiquitin‐Like Modifiers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ubiquitin‐like proteins (Ubls) such as SUMO, NEDD8, ISG15, URM1, UFM1, FAT10, ATG8/ATG12, and FUBI are essential regulators of cellular homeostasis, controlling processes from protein stability and trafficking to immune signaling and autophagy.

Supra and subgingival application of antiseptics or antibiotics during periodontal therapy

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases (gingivitis and periodontitis) are characterized by inflammatory processes which arise as a result of disruption of the balance in the oral ecosystem. According to the current S3 level clinical practice guidelines, therapy of patients with periodontitis involves a stepwise approach that includes the control of the patient ...

The Role of Iron‐Hyponitrite Intermediates in Biology and Insights From Synthetic Model Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Despite the difference in active site architecture, NO reduction by different NOR enzymes is expected to be linked by a common intermediate: hyponitrite (N2O22−). However, experimentally, very little is known about the coordination chemistry of iron with hyponitrite and the expected Fe‐hyponitrite intermediates.

Validated RP‐HPLC–UV Method for the Quantitative Analysis and Stability Evaluation of Amoxicillin in Paediatric Gummy Tablets

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
A validated RP‐HPLC–UV method was successfully applied for amoxicillin determination in gummy tablets. The method is useful for an accurate amoxicillin content determination in paediatric gummies and was applied to study the stability profile of the drug, evaluated over 6 months under storage conditions.

Research progress on the supply process of nitrite for Anammox and its enhancement strategies

open access: yesGongye shui chuli
The biological denitrification technology based on anaerobic ammonium oxidation(Anammox) is considered as a feasible technology for energy neutral urban wastewater treatment, which is generally achieved by two processes: short-range nitrification(PN ...
