Recent advances and challenges in temperature monitoring and control in microfluidic devices

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, Volume 44, Issue 1-2, Page 268-297, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Temperature is a critical—yet sometimes overlooked—parameter in microfluidics. Microfluidic devices can experience heating inside their channels during operation due to underlying physicochemical phenomena occurring therein. Such heating, whether required or not, must be monitored to ensure adequate device operation.

Mechanism of ammonia oxidation to dinitrogen, nitrite, and nitrate on β‐Ni(OH)2 from first‐principles simulations

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 2, Issue 6, December 2022., 2022
Abstract The electrocatalyzed ammonia oxidation reaction (AOR) is a potential pathway toward waste ammonia remediation, energy generation, and the synthesis of value‐added products. To date, mechanistic studies have focused on elucidating the progress of AOR on Pt‐based catalysts with an established pathway for N2$\mathrm{N_2}$ only.

Precision frequency comb spectroscopy of the $^{14}$N$_{2}$O, $^{14}$N$^{15}$NO, $^{15}$N$^{14}$NO, and $^{15}$N$_{2}$O isotopocules in the 3300-3550 cm$^{-1}$ range [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Nitrous oxide is a long-lived greenhouse gas. Its isotopic composition provides valuable insights into sources and sinks, and about the mechanism of formation. A major challenge in the spectroscopic analysis of the isotopocule compositions is the availability of accurate spectroscopic parameters, particularly for the minor $^{15}$N isotopocules.

Toward information resilience: Applying intersectionality to the HIV/AIDS information practices of Black sexual minority men

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Using intersectionality as a critical theoretical framework and analytical tool, this study investigated the HIV/AIDS information practices of Black sexual minority men (SMM). Twenty‐two Black SMM were interviewed about their HIV/AIDS‐related information practices.

Thin carbon–polypyrrole composite materials for supercapacitor electrodes by novel bipolar electrochemical setup

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 2, Issue 6, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A simple approach to mitigate the use of high voltages on thin bipolar electrodes is described here for the first time. The method involves stacking the desired thin conductor onto a thicker one, thereby creating a pseudo‐single electrode whose width is the sum of the two.

Influence of Cu2O Precursor Surface Orientation on Catalytic Performance and Product Selectivity in Nitrate Reduction Reactions

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, EarlyView.
For nitrate reduction to ammonia, oxide‐derived Cu electrodes were synthesized from Cu₂O with (100)‐ and (111)‐oriented surfaces. The precursor surface orientation influenced onset potential and product selectivity. Notably, the (100)‐derived electrode achieved higher Faradaic efficiency for ammonia, while the (111)‐derived electrode operated at a ...
