The reaction of Pseudomonas nitrite reductase and nitrite. A stopped-flow and EPR study. [PDF]
The reaction between reduced Pseudomonas nitrite reductase and nitrite has been studied by stopped-flow and rapid-freezing EPR spectroscopy. The interpretation of the kinetics at pH 8.0 is consistent with the following reaction mechanism (where k1 and k3 much greater than k2).

IDMF is a derivative of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) with a unique therapeutic potential at the intersection of psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. Here, we demonstrate that it compares favorably with DMF and its other derivatives, such as Diroximel, in the zebrafish, microglia, and lymphocyte models.

Decreased nitrite reductase activity of deoxyhemoglobin correlates with platelet activation in hemoglobin E/ß-thalassemia subjects. [PDF]
Nitric oxide (NO) can be generated from nitrite by reductase activity of deoxygenated hemoglobin (deoxyHb) apparently to facilitate tissue perfusion under hypoxic condition.

Bringing Nitric Oxide to the Molybdenum World—A Personal Perspective
Molybdenum-containing enzymes of the xanthine oxidase (XO) family are well known to catalyse oxygen atom transfer reactions, with the great majority of the characterised enzymes catalysing the insertion of an oxygen atom into the substrate. Although some

The production and detoxification of a potent cytotoxin, nitric oxide, by pathogenic enteric bacteria [PDF]
The nitrogen cycle is based on several redox reactions that are mainly accomplished by prokaryotic organisms, some archaea and a few eukaryotes, which use these reactions for assimilatory, dissimilatory or respiratory purposes.

Venus' Mass Spectra Show Signs of Disequilibria in the Middle Clouds [PDF]
We present a re-examination of mass spectral data obtained from the Pioneer Venus Large Probe Neutral Mass Spectrometer. Our interpretations of differing trace chemical species are suggestive of redox disequilibria in Venus' middle clouds. Assignments to the data (at 51.3 km) include phosphine, hydrogen sulfide, nitrous acid, nitric acid, carbon ...

The alphaproteobacterium Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense synthesizes magnetosomes, which are membrane-enveloped crystals of magnetite. Here we show that nitrite reduction is involved in redox control during anaerobic biomineralization of the mixed ...

We obtained potential bacterial laccase‐like multicopper oxidase (LMCO) sequences through metagenomic sequencing. All sequences exhibited significant differences from known LMCOs in databases. To select the most promising candidates, we performed structure prediction and molecular docking using alphafold2, metal3d and rosetta.

Molecular underpinnings of nitrite effect on CymA-dependent respiration in Shewanella oneidensis
Shewanella exhibit a remarkable versatility of respiration, with a diverse array of electron acceptors (EAs). In environments where these bacteria thrive, multiple EAs are usually present.

The Effect of Oxygen Supply on Nitrite Reduction by Tallgrass Prairie Soil Bacteria [PDF]
Nitrite reduction, catalyzed by nitrite reductase, is a key step in the denitrification pathway because it catalyzes the reduction of soluble nitrite (NO2-) into nitric oxide gas (NO).
