Inactivation of nitrate reductase by NADH in Nitrobacter agilis
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1974Abstract Nitrate reductase from Nitrobacter agilis was inactivated by NADH (but not by NADPH) in the absence of nitrate. The inactivation of the enzyme by over-reduction with NADH was overcome by oxidizing the reduced enzyme with nitrate, ferricyanide, NAD + or NADP + .

Characterization of cytochrome c from Nitrobacter Agilis
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1969Abstract Cytochrome c from Nitrobacter agilis was isolated and purified approx. 60-fold. Absorption spectra of both the oxidized and the reduced Nitrobacter cytochrome c and the oxidized minus reduced difference spectrum of this cytochrome were essentially identical to the corresponding spectra of horse-heart cytochrome c .

Nitrite Oxidation by Nitrobacter in the Presence of Certain Nitrophenols
Nature, 1960IT was reported by Simpson1 that 2,4-dinitrophenol, at a concentration of 1 mM, strongly inhibits nitrite oxidation by Nitrobacter, although compounds such as ethyl nitrite and nitromethane appeared to have no inhibitory action. Other workers2 have, however, failed to obtain any inhibition with 2,4-dinitrophenol.

Operating performance of Nitrobacter agilis immobilized in carrageenan
Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 1986Nitrobacter agilis cells were immobilized in carrageenan. The initial increase in oxygen consumption rate of the immobilized cells in a continuous bubble-column reactor under washout conditions indicated exponential growth with a doubling time of about 20 h.

[Effect of Temperature on the Activity Kinetics of Nitrobacter].
Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2019A sequencing batch reactor (SBR) was operated in this study to investigate the effect of temperature on the kinetics of Nitrobacter activity among nitrite oxidizing bacteria. At the beginning of the experiment, the NO2--N concentration in the influent was changed to enrich Nitrobacter.

Action spectrum of Nitrobacter agilis
2011The physiological literature on Nitrobacter is reviewed and a list of the unsolved problems presented. Modifications to the action spectrum apparatus built by Brooks (1967) are described. The apparatus was then used with Nitrobacter agilis, ATCC no. 14123, to obtain an action spectrum of the relief of carbon monoxide inhibition by light. The results of

High Density Culture of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter
Aquaculture is a rapidly growing industry in Queensland and around Australia. Its dependency on water resources makes it worthwhile considering the option of recycling the water by incorporating biofilters to improve the water quality. Wastewater from a recirculating intensive aquaculture system contains nitrogen compounds such as ammonia, nitrite, andopenaire +2 more sources
Mechanism of oxidative phosphorylation in the chemoautotroph Nitrobacter agilis
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1968Cytochrome electron transport particles obtained from Nitrobacter, catalyzed nitrite oxidation with concomitant phosphate esterification yielding P/O ratios approaching 1.0. Likewise the enzymatic oxidation of ascorbate or ferrocyanide yielded similar P/O ratios.
