Nitroblue tetrazolium — A new lipoprotein stain
Atherosclerosis, 1973Abstract The di-formazan of nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) is presented as a new, specific pre-stain for lipoproteins. NBT requires no organic solvent and is shown to be effective in agarose, cellulose acetate and polyacrylamide gel. When added in the correct concentrations, NBT does not appear to alter the electrophoretic migration or antigen antibody ...

Nitroblue-tetrazolium reduction test in pregnancy
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1974Abstract NBT reduction test was performed in 121 pregnant women, 40 postpartum women, and 97 nonpregnant women of childbearing age. In the first and third trimesters the percentage of NBT positive cells was within the normal limits.

The Nitroblue Tetrazolium Test
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1974The nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) test was done in 378 adult patients studied at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Normal patients had phagocyte values below 8%, or 600 NBT-positive phagocytes per cubic millimeter. Patients with untreated bacterial infections had phagocyte values ranging from 595 to 7,598/cu mm, with a median of 1,577 and a mean value of

Quantitating Intestinal Ischemia with Nitroblue Tetrazolium Salts
Journal of Surgical Research, 1995We evaluated a spectrophotometric nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction assay as a technique to quantitate experimental intestinal ischemic injury. NBT is a tetrazolium salt that is reduced by mitochondrial coenzymes to form a blue formazan dye which can be measured on a spectrophotometer.

Nitroblue tetrazolium test in children with malnutrition
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1972Summary The capacity of leukocytes to reduce nitroblue tetrazolium dye during the phagocytosis of latex particles was studied in 25 patients with malnutrition, and in 15 age-matched control subjects. No difference was found in this activity between children in the study and control groups.

Phagocytosis and nitroblue tetrazolium reduction in uremia
Experientia, 1973Nachweis, dass neutrophile Leukozyten von Uramikern verglichen mit Gesunden eine unveranderte Fahigkeit zu Phagocytose und Reduktion von Nitroblau Tetrazolium besitzen.

Evaluation of Hydronephrotic Damage using Nitroblue Tetrazolium
British Journal of Urology, 1973Summary A test for kidney viability, using nitroblue tetrazolium, has been evaluted in experimental hydronephroisis. A significant difference between control and kidney tissue obstructed for 6 weeks was observed.

Has the Nitroblue Tetrazolium Test Proved Itself?
Pediatrics, 1972I followed with interest the use of the nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction test in the differential diagnosis of viral and bacterial infections.1-3 My enthusiasm, however, has been slowly dampened. With more work being done, there has been increasing awareness of the different false-positive and false-negative results.2-5 Consequently, I believe its
