Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Development of nitrocellulose based binder for ammonium perchlorate/aluminium solid propellant

open access: yes, 2013
In the manufacturing of solid propellants, a binder is used to bind a mixture of oxidizer and fuel particles uniformly. In this study, nitrocellulose was developed as a binder for ammonium perchlorate/aluminum solid propellant. Since nitrocellulose is in

Effect of Nitration Temperature and Time on Nitrocellulose Synthesized from Pineapple (Ananas comosus) Leaf Waste [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Nitrocellulose is widely used as a key energetic material due to its high combustion efficiency and strong ignition characteristics. This study investigates the effect of nitration temperature and reaction time on the synthesis of nitrocellulose derived ...

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Chemical Characterisation of Nitrocellulose

open access: yes, 2014
Nitrocellulose is the main component in many types of ammunition, propellants and explosives. The principles of production for nitrocellulose have not changed much since the 19th century when it started being industrially produced for this purpose.

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Detection and Molecular Mass Determination of an HIV Replication-Enhancing Female Genital Tract Factor Using a Blot Bioassay

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2000
We previously reported that cervicovaginal lavages (CVL) contain a factor that enhances the replication of human immunodefeciency virus (HIV) by increasing virus transcription in T cells and monocytoid cells. This factor was named the HIV-inducing factor

Comprehensive Characterization of 98 Chinese Cases of Genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob Disease With T188K Mutation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the demographic, clinical, and laboratory features of the Chinese patients of genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob disease with T188K variant (T188K‐gCJD), the most common subtype of genetic prion diseases (gPrDs) in China. Methods In this nationwide retrospective study, data from 98 genetically confirmed T188K‐gCJD patients ...

Nitrocellulose literature review characterization and application to modern gun propellants

open access: yes, 2010
Clearly, nitrocellulose characterization is a difficult task. However, previous investigators have developed the required methodology for application to new studies.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...
