Ammonium Nitrate Coating with Nitrocellulose or the Inverse? A Study of the Coating Process and an Investigation of the Resulting Combustion Parameters

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This research focused on studying the issue of coating ammonium nitrate (AN) with nitrocellulose (NC) and its microcrystalline form (MNC), using two esterification methods: traditional (HNO3/H2SO4) and in situ synthesis (KNO3/H2SO4).

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Micro-morphology of nitrocellulose in gun propellants

open access: yes, 2015
S.96.1Gun propellants mainly consist of ingredients like nitrocellulose and plasticizers. An appropriate plasticizer forms together with the nitrocellulose a gel.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Marking nitrocellulose membranes by peroxidase spotting

open access: yes, 1999
We describe how marking nitrocellulose membranes with horseradish peroxidase can be a useful and cheap method to obtain specific badges on zymograms, developed via enhanced chemiluminescence (ECL)

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

A whole life assessment of extruded double base propellants

open access: yes, 2013
© Cranfield UniversityThe manufacturing process for solventless extruded double base propellants involves a number of rolling and reworking stages. Throughout these processes a decrease in weight average molecular weight was observed, this was attributed
