Fabrication and Characterization of Paper-Based Microfluidics Prepared in Nitrocellulose Membrane By Wax Printing

open access: yes, 2010
Paper-based microfluidics is a promising technology to develop a simple, low-cost, portable, and disposable diagnostic platform for resource-limited settings.

Synthesis of Adenine-based Fluorescent and Naked-eye Chemosensors: Specific DNA Probes for The Detection of Bacterial Pathogens

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2021
A rapid and confident tool to identify and diagnose bacterial pathogens with more accuracy using DNA as fingerprints is necessary. Herein, we report a smart chemosensor having a terminal adenine sticking to the thymine of single-stranded DNA (ssDNA ...

Molecular-scale descriptions and experimental characterizations of nitrocellulose soaked in pure liquid ethanol or diethyl ether respectively at room temperature

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
Studies on nitrocellulose (NC) mixtures with little solubilities were neglected in many cases previously. This investigation was performed to provide supplemental characterizations of NC and its soaked state with pure liquid ethanol or diethyl ether by ...

Nitrocellulose blocking for improved membrane stability.

open access: yes, 2021
The specifics of each nitrocellulose block can be seen in S1 Table in S1 File. These membranes were stored at 40°C in a sealed mylar bag containing desiccant. Reduced performance is seen in nitrocellulose block 2 and 4 at Day 0.

Nitrocellulose redox permanganometry: A simple method for reductive capacity assessment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We propose a rapid, simple, and robust method for measurement of the reductive capacity of liquid and solid biological samples based on potassium permanganate reduction followed by trapping of manganese dioxide precipitate on a nitrocellulose membrane ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Improvement of the stability and optoelectronic characteristics of molybdenum disulfide thin-film transistors by applying a nitrocellulose passivation layer

open access: yesJournal of Information Display, 2020
Nitrocellulose is proposed as a passivation layer for multilayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) thin-film transistors (TFTs) to improve the stability of the devices.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Towards realistic atomistic models of nitrocellulose degradation processes

open access: yes, 2022
Computational chemical modelling has many uses, including in situations involving chemicals that are unstable and mechanisms and reactions are hard to detect. A specific case is the degradation of nitrocellulose, a high energy material.

Emissions and Fire Risk Assessment of Nitrocellulose as a Sustainable Alternative in Pyrotechnic Compositions

open access: yesFire
The use of fireworks as a sign of celebration is a common practice in many countries. During the last few years, this sector has been subjected to various social criticisms that have even led to a ban on their use in different places.
