Analysis of metabolites of nitrofuran antibiotics in animal-derived food by UPLC-MS/MS
International Food Research Journal, 2021An ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method was used for the simultaneous detection of four metabolites of nitrofuran (NF) antibiotics in eight animal-derived foods, namely porcine muscle, chicken, fish, duck, pork liver, crab, shrimp, and egg.

The initial metabolite formed by most mammalian nitroreductases is the nitro anion free radical. We, as well as others, have proposed that nitroheterocyclic anion radicals covalently bind to protein, DNA, or thiol compounds such as reduced glutathione (GSH).

Validation and Application of an Analysis Method of Four Metabolites of Nitrofurans in Honey
Revista de Chimie, 2018Although nitrofurans are supposed to be absent in foods, they are still used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of infections in animals not bred for consumption. That meant that there are still samples of honey contaminated with residues of nitrofurans because of bees treated with those pharmaceutical substances.

Abstract A liquid chromatographic‐mass spectrometry (LC‐MS) method for the simultaneous determination of metabolites from furaltadone, furazolidone, nitrofurantoin, and nitrofurazone in meat is described. Samples were extracted with trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and further clean‐up was achieved with solid phase extraction (SPE) after derivatisation with ...

A visualized microarray sensing technique has been developed and applied to the screening of honey samples for residues of banned nitrofuran antibiotics. Using a multiplexed approach, metabolites of four main nitrofuran antibiotics can be detected simultaneously. Individual antigens were spotted onto 96-well plates.

A simple and sensitive HPLC method with fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD) is reported for the simultaneous determination of metabolites of four nitrofuran drugs (furazolidone, furaltadone, nitrofurantoin and nitrofurazone) in pork muscle. The method involves acid hydrolysis of the protein-bound drug metabolites and the conjugation of the released side ...

An LC-ESI-MS-MS method for the analysis of metabolites of four nitrofurans (furazolidone, furaltadone, nitrofurazone and nitrofurantoin) in raw milk has been developed. The samples were achieved by hydrolysis of the protein-bound drug metabolites, derivatization with 2-nitrobenzaldehyd (2-NBA) and clean-up extraction liquid-liquid with ethyl acetate ...

A reliable and sensitive procedure is presented for the analysis of nitrofuran metabolite residues in foods of animal origin, like poultry and shrimp. The method is based on a one-step extraction/derivatization, followed by solid-phase extraction clean-up with polymeric phase cartridges. The separations were carried out by liquid chromatography coupled
