CNS Mitochondria‐Derived Vesicle in Blood: Potential Biomarkers for Brain Mitochondria Dysfunction

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's (AD) and Parkinson's (PD). Our goal was to develop practical, noninvasive methods to assess mitochondrial status through the detection of mitochondria‐derived vesicles (MDVs).

Localized state and charge transfer in nitrogen-doped graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Nitrogen-doped epitaxial graphene grown on SiC(000?1) was prepared by exposing the surface to an atomic nitrogen flux. Using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Spectroscopy (STS), supported by Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, the simple

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Global assessment of nitrogen deposition effects on terrestrial plant diversity: a synthesis.

open access: yesEcological Applications, 2010
Atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition is a recognized threat to plant diversity in temperate and northern parts of Europe and North America. This paper assesses evidence from field experiments for N deposition effects and thresholds for terrestrial plant ...

Forskolin Enhances Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Secretion and Angiogenic Activity of Xeno‐Free Cultures of Human Adipose Tissue‐Derived Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The regenerative potential of adipose tissue‐derived stem cells can be enhanced through chemical stimulation in vitro. A short stimulation protocol using forskolin, either alone or in combination with other growth factors, under xeno‐free conditions enhanced the pro‐angiogenic responses in human ASCs.

A reappraisal of nitrogen-to-protein conversion factors in cassava roots. [S10-05] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A study was conducted comparing the amino acid profiles of 10 commercial varieties (COL) and 15 clones with the highest levels of nitrogen (HIN) over two years of harvests. The highest nitrogen values detected in roots to date are close to 1.30%.

Nitrogen Induced Ferromagnetism In Cobalt Doped BaTiO3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The electronic structure and magnetism of Cobalt doped BaTiO3 (BaTi1-xCoxO3) is investigated. Substitutional Nitrogen on an Oxygen site is found to play an important role in inducing net magnetic moments in the system.
