Fungicide Protection as an Agrotechnical Treatment Reducing Nitrogen Gap in Winter Wheat—A Case Study

open access: yesAgronomy
Protection of high-yielding winter wheat (WW) with fungicides increases the productivity of nitrogen (N) present in the soil–crop system during the growing season. As a consequence of the action of fungicides, the nitrogen gap (NG) reduces.

Intake and digestibility in cattle grazing temperate grass associated with legume and/or energetic supplementation

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2021
The intercrop between grasses and legumes is an alternative to maintain and increase animal production. The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of grass-legume mixtures with or without supplementations on rumen fermentation, nutrient intake, and ...

Epidural analgesia improves postoperative nitrogen balance. [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1978
Postoperative nitrogen balance was monitored in twelve patients undergoing hysterectomy under either epidural analgesia or general anaesthesia. The mean cumulative five-day nitrogen losses were significantly lower after epidural analgesia than after general anaesthesia.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Hypoxia, nitrogen balance and body weight [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal, 2002
Recent clinical studies have shown that acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are characterised by disturbances in the balance between dietary intake and energy expenditure 1, 2 as well as by a negative nitrogen balance 3.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The contribution of perennial fodder crops to the nitrogen balance of agroecosystems in Western Siberia

open access: yesАграрная наука Евро-Северо-Востока, 2023
The article presents the results of experiments obtained in stationary experiments on the basis of grain-fallow and grain-grass crop rotations on meadow-chernozem soil in the Omsk region.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Austrian nitrogen budget following UNECE guidance

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Human activity over the past century has greatly disrupted the natural nitrogen (N) balance, harming health and the environment. Sustainable nitrogen management requires cross-sectoral governance, but studies tracking nitrogen flows across sectors are ...
