Modelling Atherosclerotic Plaque Cap Mechanics: Microcalcifications Reduce Mechanical Properties in Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Based Model

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
This study develops a tissue‐engineered model of the atherosclerotic cap using human mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs). After 2 weeks of culture to produce a collagenous matrix, a mineralizing medium induces microcalcifications over 4 weeks. These constructs, imaged with second harmonic generation microscopy, lead to reduced ultimate stress at rupture ...

Salicylic and succinic acids as inducers of phytoimmunity in winter wheat for the management of powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis (DC) Speer f. sp. tritici)

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Growth regulators play an important role in activating the main signal transduction pathways in response to stress, and their activity is key in the general mechanism to understanding the formation of phytoimmunity under biotic stress.

Full-Fat Soybean Meals as an Alternative Poultry Feed Ingredient—Feed Processing Methods and Utilization—Review and Perspective

open access: yesAnimals
On a global scale, the poultry industry expands its wings in terms of meat and egg production to the masses. However, this industry itself requires a sustainable and permanent supply of different inputs, one of which is poultry feed and nutrition ...

Adipose Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Exosomes in Conjunction with Roflumilast Ameliorate Chronic Kidney Disease Through the Modulation of Fibrosis and Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The novelty of this study showed that the injection of exosomes produced from ADMSCs in combination with Roflumilast poses a more favorable therapeutic outcome for CKD induced by Adriamycin, compared to therapy with exosomes or Roflumilast alone. Roflumilast and exosomes treatment lowered the expression of the apoptotic, fibrotic, and inflammatory ...

Alleviation of water stress in soybean symbiosis by salicylic acid and methyl jasmonate-activated Bradyrhizobium

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background The use of exogenous compounds with growth-regulatory properties can play an effective part in providing plants with the necessary plastic resources for the synthesis of protective compounds.

Soybean seed inoculation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Much of the soybean plant\u27s nitrogen requirement is supplied through nitrogen fixation in which atmospheric nitrogen is converted into a usable form for the plant.

Direct Consolidation of Copper–Graphene Composite by Rotary Swaging

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The applicability of the rotary swaging method for preparation of electroconductive copper–graphene composite by direct consolidation of powders is proven. The consolidated material features advantageous microstructure featuring fine grains and twins, with homogeneous distribution of graphene, primarily along the twin boundaries, which contribute to ...

Spatial and seasonal variations of Cyanobacteria and their nitrogen fixation rates in Sanya Bay, South China Sea

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2008
The nitrogen fixation rates of planktonic and intertidal benthic cyanobacteria were investigated in Sanya Bay from 2003 to 2005. Trichodesmium thiebautii was the dominant species of planktonic cyanobacteria during our study.

Grain legume nitrogen fixation and balance model for use in practical (organic) agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In extensive agricultural systems, i.g. organic farming, nutrient balance calculations are of high importance. Common calculation models for nitrogen fixation of grain legumes are either of far too much complexity especially for use in agricultural ...

In‐Situ Growth of 2D MOFs as a Molecular Sieving Layer on SnS2 Nanoflakes for Realizing Ultraselective H2S Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
The ultraselective H2S detection of the ZIF‐L/SnS2 heterostructure is demonstrated. The introduction of 2‐dimensional (2D) breathable ZIF‐L results in a substantial increase in H2S selectivity attributable to the molecular sieving effect, which impedes the permeation of gases with large kinetic diameters and high polarity.
