Nitrogen Use Efficiency in Cacao Genotypes

Journal of Plant Nutrition, 2008
Cacao (Theobroma cacao L) is mostly grown on soils with low natural fertility. On such soils nitrogen (N) is one of the most yield limiting nutrients for cacao. Information is lacking on N use efficiency in cacao. A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate growth response and N use efficiency by two cacao genotypes.

Physiological adaptations for nitrogen use efficiency in sorghum

Plant and Soil, 2002
Known high nitrogen utilization efficiency (NUE1, biomass per unit plant N) China lines of sorghum, China 17 and San Chi San, were compared with relatively low NUE1 U.S. lines, CK60 and Tx623, for both their physiological and biochemical adaptations to tolerate an imposed N stress in the greenhouse.

Nitrogen-use efficiency: Transport solution in rice variations

Nature Plants, 2015
Over-application of nitrogen fertilizer leads to environmental problems in modern agricultural systems. The mining of favourable gene variants for nitrogen-use efficiency is a fundamental way to tackle these dangers.

Sugarcane genotypes differ in internal nitrogen use efficiency

Functional Plant Biology, 2007
The large amounts of nitrogen (N) fertiliser applied to most cropping systems support high yields but cause N pollution. More efficient use of N in cropping systems can be achieved through improved N management practices combined with genetic improvement of the crop.

Sorghum nitrogen use efficiency in Colombia

2001
Improving plant efficiency for fertiliser use is important to reduce costs of crop production in Colombia, and N is one of the most costly inputs for sorghum production. Field experiments were conducted on an Inceptisol in the Eastern Piedmont of Colombia to determine yield response to nitrogen supply, N use efficiency (NUE) and Apparent Nutrient ...

Nitrogen use efficiency in winter wheat

Cereal research communications, 2008
Nitrogen use efficiency of winter wheat grain, as valuable indicator for rational N fertilization supply, was investigated in a field experiment in middle continental Croatia under four mineral N fertilization treatments (0, 100, 200 and 300 kg N ha-1) during two growing periods (2002/03, 2005/06).
