Abstract Acryl radicals combine with nitroso compounds to give acyl-alkyl-nitroxides, which are identified by their ESR spectra. The acyl radicals are generated by oxidation of aldehydes with suitable hydrogen-acceptors such as t-butoxy radicals or by intermediates obtained int he photochemical and thermal decomposition of nitroso compounds.

Nitroso compounds are hazardous chemicals ranging from slightly to highly toxic on the Hodge-Sterner toxicity scale. The carcinogenic activity of many nitroso compounds in a wide range of experimental animals has been thoroughly documented. Tumors in many different organs bear, in some cases, a striking pathologic resemblance to cancers in man ...

Nitrate, nitrite and N-nitroso compounds
European Journal of Pharmacology: Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology, 1994A risk assessment has been made on nitrate, nitrite and N-nitroso compounds encountered in the human diet. Vegetables constitute a major source of nitrate providing over 85% of the average daily human dietary intake. Nitrite and N-nitroso compounds present in the diet contribute relatively small amounts to the body burden and the major source of these ...

Abstract Photolysis of the “pseudonitrole” 1-nitro-1-nitrosocyclohexane with red light in the absence of oxygen occurs by homolytic C-NO fission, and generates a radical pair: NO and the α-nitro-cyclohexyl radical. If one radical of this pair adds to the NO-group of unchanged starting material, there results a paramagnetic nitroxide, that can combine

Publisher Summary This chapter reveals that N-Nitroso compounds are important environmental carcinogens. They are chemically relatively simple substances that are classified into two groups according to their chemical structure, reactivity and effects: N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosamides.

Novel nitroso-compounds Langmuir–Blodgett films
Thin Solid Films, 1998Abstract Nitroso compounds and their complexes with metals have been used before only twice as suitable substances for the deposition of Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) films. To this purpose, two novel nitroso compound platinum complexes have been prepared and deposited.

Perfluoroalkyl Nitroso Compounds
Nature, 1953A PRELIMINARY study1 of the photochemical properties of the first fluorocarbon iodide, trifluoro-iodomethane, showed that a trifluoromethyl radical is produced the primary reactions of which parallel those of the hydrocarbon free radicals. A direct method thus became available for the preparation of perfluoroalkyl nitroso compounds, by irradiation of ...
