Optimization of Growth Performance of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Biofloc Farming: Evaluating Growth Performance and System Stability Under Reduced Feeding Regimes

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study assessed the effect of different feeding levels on the growth performance of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) as well as on the stability of the biofloc system over a 9‐week experimental period. Three feeding levels were tested: BFT100 (100% of a complete ration), BFT75 (75% of a complete ration), and BFT50 (50% of a complete ration).

Transcriptomic Response of Nitrosomonas europaea Transitioned from Ammonia- to Oxygen-Limited Steady-State Growth

open access: yesmSystems, 2020
Ammonia-oxidizing microorganisms perform the first step of nitrification, the oxidation of ammonia to nitrite. The bacterium Nitrosomonas europaea is the best-characterized ammonia oxidizer to date. Exposure to hypoxic conditions has a profound effect on

Topical Live and Heat‐Killed Probiotics for Photoaging Prevention: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesDermatology Research and Practice, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background The skin microbiome plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin, and imbalances in this microbial community, often caused by aging and environmental factors like UV radiation, are linked to photoaging. Topical probiotics may help prevent it.

Primjena mikroorganizama u procesima uklanjanja dušikovih spojeva iz otpadnih voda [PDF]

open access: yesKemija u Industriji

Recovering partial nitritation in a PN/A system during mainstream wastewater treatment by reviving AOB activity after thoroughly inhibiting AOB and NOB with free nitrous acid

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
Starting up or recovering partial nitritation is a major challenge for achieving or maintaining stable partial nitritation/anammox (PN/A) during mainstream wastewater treatment.

Probiotics and Postbiotics for Skin Care Cosmetics

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background The skin microbiome plays a central role in maintaining barrier integrity, immune regulation, and overall skin health. Disruption of this complex microbial ecosystem is increasingly associated with dermatological disorders such as acne, atopic dermatitis, and photoaging.

Effects of Dumpsite Leachates on Soil Biological Sentinels in Benin City, Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Environmental Management, 2019
In this study, an attempt was made to examine the effects of dumpsite leachate on soil biological sentinels by collecting leachate samples from Ikhueniro and Otofure dumpsites in Benin City Nigeria, and analyzed using standard methods.

Meta-analysis reveals ammonia-oxidizing bacteria respond more strongly to nitrogen addition than ammonia-oxidizing archaea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Shifts in microbial communities driven by anthropogenic nitrogen (N) addition have broad-scale ecological consequences. However, responses of microbial groups to exogenous N supply vary considerably across studies, hindering efforts to predict community ...
