An Ionic Gelation Powder for Ultrafast Hemostasis and Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafast ionic gelation‐activated hemostatic powder (AGCL) forms a hydrogel within ≈1 s upon contact with blood‐derived calcium ions. The AGCL powder enables rapid hemorrhage control, strong tissue adhesion, and enhanced healing. The powder's pre‐crosslinked polymer network ensures high blood uptake and stability, offering effective treatment for ...

Developing a hybrid data-driven and informed model for prediction and mitigation of agricultural nitrous oxide flux hotspots

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is one of the most significant contributors to greenhouse forcing and is the biggest contributor to ozone depletion in the 21st century, and roughly 70% of anthropogenic nitrous oxide emissions are from agriculture and soil management.

Mitigating Greenhouse Gases in Agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Climate change has severe adverse effects on the livelihood of millions of the world’s poorest people. Increasing temperatures, water scarcity and droughts, flooding and storms affect food security. Thus, mitigation actions are needed to pave the way for

Neuroprotective Properties of Xenon. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Xenon is a rare noble gas that was introduced into clinical practice more than 70 years ago. Xenon's clinical properties are predicated by its ability to fit into preformed cavities of macromolecules thereby altering their biological functions.

Laser‐Microscribed Glass Enables Surface‐Microfluidics‐Facilitated, Affordable, Rapid Cancer Diagnosis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A transparent, laser‐microscribed glass platform enables cancer diagnosis within 1 h—much faster than histology, which takes days, and free from the chemical or contrast risks of MRI or CT scans. The antibody‐functionalized rough glass surface captures viable cancer cells directly from suspension, allowing instant optical readout and offering a rapid ...

Generation of Nitrous Oxide by Aerobic Denitrifiers Isolated from an Urban Wetland in Bogotá, Colombia

open access: yesLimnological Review
In this study, we evaluated the nitrous oxide production potential of denitrifying bacterial strains isolated from sediments of the urban wetland Santa María del Lago under anaerobic and aerobic conditions to determine their potential role in mitigating ...

Theory‐Guided Design of Non‐Precious Single‐Atom Catalyst for Electrocatalytic Chlorine Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To overcome the reliance on noble metals for the chlorine evolution reaction (CER), we designed a non‐precious single‐atom catalyst (SAC), NiN3O–O. It achieves a low overpotential of 75 mV, 95.8% Cl2 selectivity, and outperforms commercial dimensionally stable anodes (DSAs).
