The NLR family of innate immune and cell death sensors.
Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptors, also known as nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat receptors (NLRs), are a family of cytosolic pattern recognition receptors that detect a wide variety of pathogenic and sterile triggers ...

Constraining the size of the narrow line region in distant quasars
We propose a proper method to measure the size of the narrow line region (NLR) in distant quasars. The apparent angular size of the NLR is, in general, too small to resolve technically. However, it is possible to map the NLR if with gravitational lensing.

Feeding and Feedback in nearby AGN from Integral Field Spectroscopy [PDF]
I report results of recent integral field spectroscopy of the inner few hundred parsecs (pc) around nearby Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) at a sampling of a few pc, obtained with the Gemini Telescopes. In the lowest activity AGNs, it is possible to observe

Background Systemic immune-inflammatory biomarkers including systemic immune inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) have been demonstrated to be ...

Do Jet-Driven Shocks ionize the Narrow Line Regions of Seyfert Galaxies? [PDF]
We consider a model in which the narrow line regions (NLRs) of Seyfert galaxies are photoionized ``in situ'' by fast (300 -- 1,000 km/s), radiative shock waves driven into the interstellar medium of the galaxy by radio jets from the active nucleus.

The NLR-Annotator Tool Enables Annotation of the Intracellular Immune Receptor Repertoire1[OPEN]
The wheat intracellular immune receptor repertoire can be explored with the NLR-Annotator tool. Disease resistance genes encoding nucleotide-binding and leucine-rich repeat (NLR) intracellular immune receptor proteins detect pathogens by the presence of ...

NLR diversity, helpers and integrated domains: making sense of the NLR IDentity
Plant innate immunity relies on genetically predetermined repertoires of immune receptors to detect pathogens and trigger an effective immune response. A large proportion of these receptors are from the Nucletoide Binding Leucine Rich Repeat (NLR) gene family.

Rosetta Stone of NLR Innate Immunity [PDF]
The formation of NLR inflammasomes is a central step in the initiation of the innate immune response. Two recent publications describe the structure of the NAIP2-NLRC4 inflammasome and derive an elegant model of NLR inflammasome formation, whereby binding of the pathogen-molecule-bound NLR NAIP2 to NLRC4 leads to the activation of NLRC4 and initiation ...
