Blowup for biharmonic NLS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales scientifiques de l'École normale supérieure, 2017
We consider the Cauchy problem for the biharmonic (i.\,e.~fourth-order) NLS with focusing nonlinearity given by $i \partial_t u = Δ^2 u - μΔu -|u|^{2 σ} u$ for $(t,x) \in [0,T) \times \mathbb{R}^d$, where $0 < σ 4/d$, we prove a general result on finite-time blowup for radial data in $H^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$ in any dimension $d \geq 2$.

Characterization of Ku70(2)-NLS as bipartite nuclear localization sequence for non-viral gene delivery. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Several barriers have to be overcome in order to achieve gene expression in target cells, e.g. cellular uptake, endosomal release and translocation to the nucleus.

On the Stability of Periodic Waves for the Cubic Derivative NLS and the Quintic NLS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nonlinear Science, 2021
We study the periodic cubic derivative non-linear Schrödinger equation (dNLS) and the (focussing) quintic non-linear Schrödinger equation (NLS). These are both $L^2$ critical dispersive models, which exhibit threshold type behavior, when posed on the line ${\mathbb R}$. We describe the (three parameter) family of non-vanishing bell-shaped solutions for

Advantages of Using Transfer Learning Technology with a Quantative Measurement

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
The number of people living in cities is continuously growing, and the buildings in topographic maps are in need of frequent updates, which are costly to perform manually. This makes automatic building extraction a significant research subject.

COMBINING YOLO V5 AND TRANSFER LEARNING FOR SMOKE-BASED WILDFIRE DETECTION IN BOREAL FORESTS [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2023
Wildfires present severe threats to various aspects of ecosystems, human settlements, and the environment. Early detection plays a critical role in minimizing the destructive consequences of wildfires.

Combating Single-Frequency Jamming through a Multi-Frequency, Multi-Constellation Software Receiver: A Case Study for Maritime Navigation in the Gulf of Finland

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Today, a substantial portion of global trade is carried by sea. Consequently, the reliance on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-based navigation in the oceans and inland waterways has been rapidly growing.

A Novel Deep Multi-Image Object Detection Approach for Detecting Alien Barleys in Oat Fields Using RGB UAV Images

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Oat products are significant parts of a healthy diet. Pure oat is gluten-free, which makes it an excellent choice for people with celiac disease. Elimination of alien cereals is important not only in gluten-free oat production but also in seed production.

Mapping Small Watercourses from DEMs with Deep Learning—Exploring the Causes of False Predictions

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Vector datasets of small watercourses, such as rivulets, streams, and ditches, are important for many visualization and analysis use cases. Mapping small watercourses with traditional methods is laborious and costly.
