AN ECONOMIC AND RISK ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF TILLAGE AND NITROGEN SOURCE ON SOIL CARBON SEQUESTRATION IN CORN PRODUCTION [PDF]

open access: yes
The economic potential of no-tillage versus conventional tillage to sequester soil carbon using either commercial nitrogen or manure for continuous corn production is evaluated. Results indicate which system provides the highest net returns, which system

No-till cultivation suppresses broad-leaved weeds but favours grasses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
When shifting from traditional ploughing to no-till cultivation there will be new possibilities to weeds. However, the changes in weed population are more dependent on each field than on cultivation method. We had two field trials in southern Finland (

Circular RNA PTPN4 Contributes to Blood‐Brain Barrier Disruption during Early Epileptogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epileptic condition induces CircPTPN4 upregulation, which promotes ECE‐1 expression through competitive sequestration of miR‐145a‐5p. The elevated ECE‐1 catalyzes the ET‐1 production, leading to p38/MAPK pathway activation and subsequent downregulation of tight junction protein expression. This cascade results in increased BBB permeability and enhanced

Long‐Term Elevated CO2 Improves Soil Health and Rice Yields in Paddy Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Combining the two longest‐running rice free‐air CO2 enrichment experiments with a global data synthesis, this study demonstrates that long‐term elevated CO2 consistently enhances soil health. In rice paddies, this improvement sustains the CO2 fertilization effect over decades.

Effets de labour et de non-labour en combinaison avec l'alimentation azotée sur le rendement du maïs (cv. SHABA I) [PDF]

open access: yesTropicultura, 1984
Effects of tillage and no-tillage with nitrogen nutrition on maize yield, (var Shaba I). The nitrogen was applied at the rates ranging from 0 to 80 kg/ha. The mean maize grain yield under no-tillage was 20 percent higher than under tillage.

Top‐Down Fabricated Wood‐Derived Pressure and Strain Sensors: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review focuses on wood‐derived pressure/strain sensors fabricated via top‐down strategies. It analyzes wood's structural composition, examines processing techniques, discusses sensor types and sensing mechanisms, and reviews existing research. The article concludes with future directions for enhancing performance and scalability.

Tillage and no-tillage effects on physical characteristics of a silt loam under 5 years of continuous oats-maize crop rotation : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Applied Science in Agricultural Engineering, Institute of Technology and Engineering, Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Conservation tillage is one of the conserving practices recognized worldwide despite its empirical benefits still largely undergoing continuous research. This research is part of a sequence of studies carried out at Massey University tillage trial.

Ratoon Season Rice Reduces Methane Emissions by Limiting Acetic Acid Transport to the Rhizosphere and Inhibiting Methanogens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study finds that the interaction between ABA‐OsCIPK2‐OsSWEET1A reduces the allocation of methane producing bacteria carbon source (acetic acid) content to the rhizosphere soil of ratoon season rice, thereby reducing methane emissions. Abstract Rice paddies are a major, persistent source of atmospheric methane (CH4), emission rates depend on the ...

Soil fauna and its relation with environmental variables in soil management systems

open access: yesRevista Ciência Agronômica
The present study aims to generate knowledge about the soil fauna, its relation to other explanatory environmental variables, and, besides it, to select edaphic indicators that more contribute to separate the land use systems (LUS).
