The nature and role of the gold-krypton interactions in small neutral gold clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
© 2015 American Chemical Society. We investigate the nature and role of krypton embedding in small neutral gold clusters. For some of these clusters, we observe a particular site-dependent character of the Kr binding that does not completely follow the ...

Water quality at Chaco Culture National Historical Park and the potential effects of hydrocarbon extraction

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, 2023
Study region: Chaco Culture National Historical Park (CCNHP) is in the San Juan Basin of northwestern New Mexico, U.S.A. Its only water supply is in Gallup Sandstone aquifer, stratigraphically surrounded by layers long targeted for oil and natural gas ...

Geochemical characteristics and geological significance of noble gases in natural gas from Songliao Basin, China

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi
Geochemistry of noble gases has been applied to the study of deep Earth materials and celestial meteorites. With advancements in measurement technology, it is also increasingly being used in natural gas research.

Monitoring Xenon Capture in a Metal Organic Framework Using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Molten salt reactor operation will necessitate circulation of a cover gas to remove certain evolved fission products and maintain an inert atmosphere. The cover gas leaving the reactor core is expected to contain both noble and non-noble gases, aerosols,

Noble gas as a functional dopant in ZnO

open access: yes, 2019
Owing to fully occupied orbitals, noble gases are considered to be chemically inert and to have limited effect on materials properties under standard conditions.

Heavy Noble Gas Isotopes as New Constraints on the Ventilation of the Deep Ocean

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
Past studies of noble gas concentrations in the deep ocean have revealed widespread, several percent undersaturation of Ar, Kr, and Xe. However, the physical explanation for these disequilibria remains unclear. To gain insight into undersaturation set by

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

On line etching of bulk EH5 St. Mark's – Radiogenic and subsolar noble gases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Introduction: On line etching is very useful to analyse noble gas components such as 'Q' or the solar wind [1, 2]. A bulk meteorite sample, however, has never been analysed by on line etching in order to characterise its complete noble gas ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
