Biomass‐derived hydrochars as eco‐friendly adsorbents for wastewater treatment applications
Abstract Emerging organic pollutants (EOPs), such as diethyl phthalate (DEP), bisphenol A (BPA), and methylene blue (MB), are only partially removed in conventional wastewater treatment plants. This study assesses hydrochars produced by hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) of spruce bark (SB), vine shoots (VSs), and wheat straw (WSs) for removing three ...

On arrowhead and diamond diameters
Arrowhead and diamond form a family of two hierarchical Cayley graphs defined on the triangular grid. In their undirected version, they are isomorphic and merely define two distinct representations of the same graph.

Limited evidence links processed meat intake and non‐cardia gastric cancer, while esophageal adenocarcinoma is increasing in Western countries, where diets are typically high in red and processed meats. Using data from over 450,000 participants from a large prospective study, the authors examined meat consumption and the risk of gastric and esophageal ...

Multi-model comparison of trends and controls of near-bed oxygen concentration on the northwest European continental shelf under climate change [PDF]
We present an analysis of the evolution of near-bed oxygen in the next century in the northwest European continental shelf in a three-member ensemble of coupled physics–biogeochemistry models.

Revisiting EWMA in High‐Frequency‐Based Portfolio Optimization: A Comparative Assessment
ABSTRACT This paper compares the statistical and economic performance of state‐of‐the‐art high‐frequency (HF) based multivariate volatility models with a simpler, widely used alternative, the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) filter. Using over two decades of 100 U.S.

Scaling of Short‐Duration, Summer Rainfall Event Temporal Profiles With Warming Over Great Britain
Temperature scaling has been used to analyse the temporal profiles of short‐duration, summer rainfall events in Great Britain, for sub‐hourly observed and convection‐permitting climate model (CPM) data. Results show an increase with dewpoint temperature of event total rainfall depth, maximum intensity, concentration and front‐loading.

Optimal Designs and Inspection Time Decisions for Gamma Accelerated Degradation Tests
ABSTRACT This study analytically derives optimal designs for gamma accelerated degradation tests while incorporating inspection time as a design variable under both D‐ and V‐optimality criteria. Under D‐optimality, we prove that the optimal design allocates test units exclusively to the lowest and highest stress levels and adopts the longest inspection

A performance model of multicast communication in wormhole-routed networks on-chip [PDF]
Collective communication operations form a part of overall traffic in most applications running on platforms employing direct interconnection networks. This paper presents a novel analytical model to compute communication latency of multicast as a widely

Simulation Environment for Mixed AHB-NoC Architectures
Communication architecture is crucial for performances and power constraints in modern multicore systems on chip (SoC). Network-on-Chip (NoC) is used to increase the bandwidth limitations of a traditional bus paradigm.
