Nocardial infections: report of 22 cases Infecções por Nocardia species: relato de 22 casos

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 2007
Twenty-two cases of nocardial infections were diagnosed in our city between 1977- 1998. All patients whose clinical specimens showed Nocardia spp. at Gram stain, which were further confirmed by culture, were selected to be included in the study.

Nocardia choroidal abscess. [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 1992
Nocardia is a Gram positive, aerobic, filamentous branching micro-organism that rarely causes human infection. When infection does occur it usually takes the form of a subcutaneous abscess or a pneumonia-like illness. We describe a case of a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia who developed painless loss of vision in the right eye secondary to a

Is Rifampin (Rifampicin) Essential for the Treatment of Rhodococcus equi Infections in Foals? A Critical Review of the Role of Rifampin

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Volume 48, Issue 5, Page 345-358, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Rifampin is an enigma among antimicrobials. Blood and tissue compartment concentrations are a “moving target” along the treatment course due to the complex pharmacodynamic interactions within the body. Rifampin concomitant therapies are for the prevention and treatment of Rhodococcus equi infection in foals, for nearly 40 years.

Nocardia and Actinomyces

open access: yesMedicine, 2017
Abstract Nocardia and Actinomyces are Gram-positive bacteria of the order Actinomycetales. These ubiquitous organisms exhibit filamentous branching structures, which sometimes coalesce and develop into bundles known as mycelia. They are the cause of rare, but clinically important, infections and are often termed ‘the great masqueraders'.

Ecological Function and Diversity of the Endosphere Microbiome in Leaves and Fruits of Coffea arabica L. Across Elevation and Shade Gradients

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 7, Issue 4, July–August 2025.
ABSTRACT Coffee is a globally important commodity that supports millions of livelihoods, from smallholder farmers to international traders. However, the sustainability of the coffee value chain is increasingly threatened by environmental changes. In this context, the phytomicrobiome, shaped by both environmental factors and plant genotypes, plays a ...
