Disseminated Nocardia asteroides with pustules
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1989A case of disseminated Nocardia asteroides in a renal transplant recipient with cavitary lung lesions and cutaneous pustules is presented. Disseminated nocardiosis is a rare disease that occurs chiefly in the immunocompromised host and usually begins as a pleuropulmonary infection.

Resistance to Infection with Nocardia asteroides
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1975Mechanisms of host resistance to Nocardia asteroides were studied in mice. Two to six weeks after intraperitoneal or intravenous immunization with viable N. asteroides, mice were significantly resistant to intraperitoneal challenge with LD50-100 of N.

Nocardia asteroides Sepsis of the Knee
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1985Nocardia asteroides as an infecting agent has been an increasingly identified pathogen in humans, especially in immunosuppressed hosts. The Nocardia organisms as a cause of septic arthritis have been very unusual and in all previously reported cases have occurred in immunosuppressed patients. This is a report of two additional patients, one of whom has

Hemagglutinating Antibodies to Nocardia asteroides
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1966tized to nocardia antigens have been described in many reports. The animals were sensitized by various routes including intraperitoneal injections and intratesticular injections with the incorporation of adjuvant (Drake and Henrici, 1943). Dyson and Slack (1963) reported that the method of antigen injection caused no noticeable difference in the ...

Nocardia asteroides in the Soil of Kuwait
Mycopathologia, 1997A pilot study was undertaken to determine the occurrence and distribution of pathogenic nocardiae in Kuwaiti soil. A total of 102 soil samples collected from two localities were investigated by the paraffin bait technique. Nocardia asteroides was the only species isolated from 42 (41%) soil samples.

Nocardia Asteroides Endophthalmitis
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1983SUMMARY A case of exogenous Nocardia asteroides endophthalmitis with impending corneal perforation was diagnosed by culture and successfully treated with vitrectomy, penetrating keratoplasty, and intraocular, topical, and systemic antimicrobial therapy. The patient regained excellent vision.

Monomycoloylglycerol of Nocardia asteroides
Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, 1980Abstract Isolation of monoacylglycerol containing only hydroxy acids was achieved after fractionation of the diethyl ether-soluble lipids of Nocardia asteroides by column and thin layer chromatography. The isolated lipid, which was liquid, liberated only glycerol into the aqueous phase, and had (C 50 C 56 ) mycolic acids as the sole constituent ...

Inhibition of Nocardia asteroides by Neutrophils
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1985Neutrophils are found in lesions of Nocardia asteroides infection, but neutrophils kill few nocardiae in vitro. For determination of neutrophil inhibition of nocardiae, neutrophils and nocardiae were incubated together. Filament formation and amino acid uptake by nocardiae were inhibited for 7.5 hr.
