Nocardia Infection Presented as Intramuscular Abscess in a Kidney Transplant Recipient: Case Report and Literature Review. [PDF]
Background Nocardia is a gram‐positive bacterium capable of causing both local and systemic infections, typically in immunocompromised patients. The most common clinical presentation is pulmonary infection. Muscle abscess due to Nocardia infection without disseminated nocardiosis is rare.

An Unusual Case of Cutaneous Nocardia cyriacigeorgica Infection Assuming the Appearance of Shingles. [PDF]
Nocardia is an opportunistic organism that commonly infects the lungs of the immunocompromised and can cause disseminated infections. Diagnosis of Nocardia cyriacigeorgica is through culture and susceptibilities, aided by 16S rRNA sequencing. We report a case of a shingles‐like rash eruption due to Nocardia cyriacigeorgica in a 69‐year‐old patient with

Doin’ the right thing: Fidaxomicin (Fdx) constitutes a potent antibiotic with a formidable power against menacing bacteria like Clostridioides difficile and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Chemical synthesis of different substitution patterns on fidaxomicin resulted in specific antibiotic activity across species.

Multiple infections of zoonotic pathogens in wild Brandt's voles (Lasiopodomys brandtii)
Our research revealed the viral and bacterial diversity in wild Brandt's voles. The characterization and distinctive lineage of some rodent‐specific viruses (Cytomegalovirus, PestVs and Lentiviruses) and rodent‐borne bacteria (Leptospira interrogans and Vibrio cholerae) indicates that wild Brandt's voles may harbor a diversity of viruses and bacteria ...

We report a complex infection of Nocardiosis and C. difficile colitis that developed in a patient with ulcerative colitis in the setting of chronic immunosuppression and malnutrition. Key Clinical Message Immunosuppression, malnutrition, and underlying infection can unmask obscure infections which can be challenging to identify.

Bacterial diseases of tilapia, their zoonotic potential and risk of antimicrobial resistance
Abstract Tilapia culture is an important source of income and nutrition to many rural families. Since 2000, the production of tilapia increased and reached domestic and global markets. Major farmed species is Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), in earthen ponds and cage cultures.

Closed Catheter Drainage for Klebsiella pneumoniae Empyema Necessitans
Empyema necessitans is a rare complication of pneumonia, which can be seen more frequently with tuberculosis (TB). In this case report, we include a 47‐year‐old female with empyema necessitans; closed drainage has been sought as a sole treatment based on the clinical presentation and radiological findings of an empyema necessitans. Scarce evidence with

Abstract Sporotrichoid‐lymphocutaneous‐pattern is classically seen in sporotrichosis, though also present in other infections like atypical mycobacteriosis and leishmaniasis. Cutaneous atypical mycobacterial infection presents as localized lesions in immunocompetent and is widespread in immunosuppressed patients.

Diagnostics to support mycetoma management—Development of two target product profiles
Abstract Objective Mycetoma is a neglected tropical disease caused by more than 70 different microorganisms and identified by the WHO as one of the high‐priority diseases for developing diagnostic tests. To ensure the production of diagnostic assays for use by clinical staff in endemic regions, target product profiles (TPPs) were designed.
