Pulmonary Nocardiosis in an Immunocompetent Patient: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT The patient, a 56‐year‐old female with a history of childhood bronchiectasis and controlled hypertension, presented with fever, cough, and hemoptysis. Antibiotic Susceptibility of Zoonotic Bacteria Isolated From Oral Cavities of Indigenous Dogs From Semi‐Urban Areas in Uganda

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 1, January 2025.
Dog bites lead to bacterial infections. Isolation and identification of zoonotic bacterial species from the oral cavities of indigenous dogs using biochemical tests were carried out. The antibiotic susceptibility profile of the commonly identified bacteria species was established using Kirby–Bauer disk diffusion approach.

Bacterial Catabolism of Phthalates With Estrogenic Activity Used as Plasticisers in the Manufacture of Plastic Products

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 17, Issue 11, November 2024.
Here we consolidate knowledge on the recent development of the microbial degradation of phthalic acid esters as co‐contaminants of plastic pollution both at the biochemical and molecular levels with an aim to facilitate the development of new insights into the bioremediation of phthalates in the environment.

Antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of Nocardia asteroides [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1988
Testing of the susceptibility to 12 antimicrobial agents, including beta-lactams, aminoglycosides, ciprofloxacin, and erythromycin, was performed by broth microdilution on 78 consecutive clinical isolates of Nocardia asteroides. Surprisingly, a limited number of patterns of susceptibility were identified that included all drug classes, with 95% of ...

Nocardia asteroides Native Valve Endocarditis [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2001
A 39-year-old man with a history of injection drug abuse was given a diagnosis of Nocardia asteroides native aortic valve endocarditis, and he required valve replacement therapy, despite having received potent antimicrobial therapy. This is the first reported proven case of native valve endocarditis due to Nocardia species.
