Disentangling how urbanisation influences moth diversity in grasslands

Moths were sampled with light traps in 40 grasslands (20 in the urban core of a city and 20 in the surrounding area). Urbanised sites favoured generalist species; high levels of urbanisation were associated with reduced moth abundance, which in turn drove declines in diversity. The negative effect of urbanisation was attenuated by habitat fragmentation
