Exponential Function Expansion Nodal Diffusion Method

18th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering: Volume 2, 2010
An exponential function expansion nodal diffusion method is proposed to take care of diffusion calculation in unstructured geometry. Transverse integral technique is widely used in nodal method in regular geometry, such as rectangular and hexagonal, while improper in arbitrary triangular geometry because of the mathematical singularity.

Adaptive expansion order for diffusion Variational Nodal Method

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 2018
Abstract The Variational Nodal Method (VNM) has been employed as the diffusion module in our PWR core analysis code Bamboo-Core within our PWR fuel management code system NECP-Bamboo. It expands the nodal volumetric flux and surface partial currents into the sums of orthogonal basis functions without using the transverse integration technique.

Unified Formulation of Nodal Expansion Method and Analytic Nodal Method Solutions to Two-Group Diffusion Equations

Nuclear Science and Engineering, 2001
This paper demonstrates that the analytic nodal method (ANM) solution to two-group (2-G) diffusion equations can be formulated in the same way as the nodal expansion method (NEM) solution, and ther...

Numerical Divergence Effects of Equivalence Theory in the Nodal Expansion Method

Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1993
Accurate solutions of the advanced nodal equations require the use of discontinuity factors (DFs) to account for the homogenization errors that are inherent in all coarse-mesh nodal methods. During the last several years, nodal equivalence theory (NET) has successfully been implemented for the Cartesian geometry and has received widespread acceptance ...

Research on Nodal Expansion Method for Transient Convection Diffusion Equation

Volume 4: Radiation Protection and Nuclear Technology Applications; Fuel Cycle, Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning; Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Coupled Codes; Reactor Physics and Transport Theory, 2014
Nodal expansion method (NEM), well known for its high accuracy and efficiency, has been widely applied to reactor physics analysis. It is proven that NEM has an advantage over traditional finite difference method (FDM) and finite volume method (FVM). However, for most reactor thermal hydraulic codes, traditional FDM or FVM is still in use, and the NEM ...

Transverse net leakage into the second-order Nodal expansion method

Annals of Nuclear Energy, 1995
Abstract A new formulation of the second-order version of the Nodal Expansion Method (NEM) is presented, based on the inclusion of a high-order transverse leakage source term into the Galerkin-weighted one-dimensional equations. This is done in a way that enhances the coupling between average group fluxes and incoming partial currents in the nodal ...

Unified Nodal Method Formulation for Analytic Function Expansion Nodal Method Solution to Two-Group Diffusion Equations in Rectangular Geometry

Nuclear Science and Engineering, 2002
The analytic function expansion nodal (AFEN) method formulation for the solution to two-group diffusion equations in rectangular geometry is reformulated in the principle of the unified nodal method (UNM) formulation. Except for the corner point neutron balance equations, the nodal coupling relations of the reformulated AFEN method are shown to ...
