Performance comparison of zeroth order nodal expansion methods in 3D rectangular geometry
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2012Abstract This work presents a study on the performance comparison of zeroth order nodal expansion methods, NEM. A computer code based on zeroth order nodal expansion methods, ZONEM-3D, is developed for the steady state diffusion equation calculation using nodal expansion family methods including average current, average flux, point current and point ...

The Green’s Function Nodal Expansion Method for Light Water Reactor Diffusion Calculations
Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1995Green`s function nodal expansion method (GNEM) is developed for the efficient numerical solution of the multidimensional neutron diffusion equation. It is an improved version of the nodal expansion method (NEM) and the nodal Green`s function method (NGFM). The node interior fluxes are approximated by a high-order polynomial expansion as in NEM.

Abstract Within nuclear reactor simulation codes, the temperature distribution inside the fuel rod is computed with a mono-dimensional cylindrical heat conduction model. The main discretization methods applied to reduce the differential equation into an algebraic system are the finite difference or the finite volume method.
