Cloud-point extraction of nodularin-R from natural waters

Analytica Chimica Acta, 2004
Abstract A cloud-point extraction (CPE) technique for the determination of a cyanobacterial hepatotoxin, nodularin-R, in aqueous media using a cationic surfactant, tricaprylmethylammonium chloride (Aliquat-336), was developed. Cloud-point phase separation of Aliquat-336 at ambient temperature was induced by the addition of sodium sulfate. The Aliquat-

Mass spectrometric detection and quantification of nodularin‐R in flounder livers

Environmental Toxicology, 2003
AbstractLivers of flounders caught during August 1995 from the western Gulf of Finland and the Archipelago Sea were analyzed for nodularin‐R (NODLN) by matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography‐electrospray ionization‐mass spectrometry (LC‐MS).

Acyloxymethyl Esterification of Nodularin-R and Microcystin-LA Produces Inactive Protoxins that Become Reactivated and Produce Apoptosis inside Intact Cells [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2009
We report the esterification of the carboxyl groups of the cyclic peptide toxins nodularin-R and microcystin-LA to produce stable diacetoxymethyl and dipropionyloxymethyl ester derivatives. The derivatives had no activity but were reactivated upon esterase treatment.
