The PTTG1/VASP axis promotes oral squamous cell carcinoma metastasis by modulating focal adhesion and actin filaments

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
VASP was found to be overexpressed in metastatic oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues. Notably, PTTG1‐ and VASP‐deficient OSCC cells demonstrated suppressed metastatic properties by disrupting the interaction between the cytoskeleton and focal adhesion (FAs) in the filopodia region.

Nitrate-Induced CLE Peptide Systemically Inhibits Nodulation in Medicago truncatula

open access: yesPlants, 2020
Legume plants form nitrogen-fixing nodules in symbiosis with soil bacteria rhizobia. The number of symbiotic nodules is controlled at the whole-plant level with autoregulation of nodulation (AON), which includes a shoot-acting CLV1-like receptor kinase ...

Germline variants in CDKN2A wild‐type melanoma prone families

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Among melanoma‐prone families, wild‐type for CDKN2A and CDK4, some have pathogenic variants in genes not usually linked to melanoma. Furthermore, rare XP‐related variants and variants in MC1R are enriched in such families. Germline pathogenic variants in CDKN2A are well established as an underlying cause of familial malignant melanoma. While pathogenic

Evaluating the feasibility of late nodulation in common beans avaliando a factibilidade da nodulação tardia no feijoeiro comum

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Agronomy
The nodulation of common beans occurs continuously until the flowering stage, followed by nodule senescence. However, reports have indicated the potential for late nodulation in this species, contributing to increased grain production.

Ethylene, a Hormone at the Center-Stage of Nodulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Nodulation is the result of a beneficial interaction between legumes and rhizobia. It is a sophisticated process leading to nutrient exchange between the two types of symbionts. In this association, within a nodule, the rhizobia, using energy provided as

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...

Multi-Task Lung Nodule Detection in Chest Radiographs with a Dual Head Network [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Lung nodules can be an alarming precursor to potential lung cancer. Missed nodule detections during chest radiograph analysis remains a common challenge among thoracic radiologists. In this work, we present a multi-task lung nodule detection algorithm for chest radiograph analysis.

The Role of Rhizobial ACC Deaminase in the Nodulation Process of Leguminous Plants

open access: yes, 2016
Symbiotic rhizobia-legumes associations are extremely important in terms of sustainable agricultural practices. This symbiosis involves a complex interaction between both partners, plant and bacterium, for bacterial infection and the formation of ...

METTL3 knockout accelerates hepatocarcinogenesis via inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress response

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Liver‐specific knockout of N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase METTL3 significantly accelerated hepatic tumor initiation under various oncogenic challenges, contrary to the previously reported oncogenic role of METTL3 in liver cancer cell lines or xenograft models. Mechanistically, METTL3 deficiency reduced m6A deposition on Manf transcripts and
