Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Nodulation, nodule development and senescence directly affects nitrogen fixation efficiency, and previous studies have shown that inhibition of some cysteine proteases delay nodule senescence, so their nature inhibitors, cystatin genes, are very ...

The effects of nitrate nitrogen and phosphate on the nodulation and nitrogen fixation of white cliver (Trifolium repens L.): a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Science at Massey University [PDF]
It is a well established fact that the presence of nitrate ions can depress nodule development on legume roots, but recent studies in Queensland (Gates, 1970) have shown that this sensitivity can be ameliorated if phosphate levels are maintained at a ...

A Topology Optimization Framework for the Inverse Design of Nonlinear Mechanical Metamaterials
This work uses topology optimization to design unit cells for mechanical metamaterials with a prescribed nonlinear stress–strain response. The framework adds contact and postbuckling modeling to synthesize microstructures for three highly nonlinear responses, including pseudoductile behavior, monostable with snap‐through buckling, and bistable ...

Soybean CEP6 Signaling Peptides Positively Regulate Nodulation
Nodulation is the most efficient nitrate assimilation system in the ecosystem, while excessive fertilization has an increased nitrate inhibition effect; deciphering the nitrate signal transduction mechanism in the process is of the utmost importance.

The Soybean Rfg1 Gene Restricts Nodulation by Sinorhizobium fredii USDA193
Sinorhizobium fredii is a fast-growing rhizobial species that can establish a nitrogen-fixing symbiosis with a wide range of legume species including soybeans (Glycine max).

Shoot Extracts from Two Low Nodulation Mutants Significantly Reduce Nodule Number in Pea
E107 and E132 are pea mutants that nodulate poorly. Because they have a shoot-controlled nodulation phenotype, we asked if their mutated genes were implicated in the autoregulation of nodulation (AON), a mechanism which consists of two systemic circuits,

Nitrogen modulation of legume root architecture signaling pathways involves phytohormones and small regulatory molecules [PDF]
Nitrogen, particularly nitrate is an important yield determinant for crops. However, current agricultural practice with excessive fertilizer usage has detrimental effects on the environment.
