A geometric derivation of Noether’s theorem

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Physics
Abstract Nother’s theorem is a cornerstone of analytical mechanics, making the link between symmetries and conserved quantities. In this article, I propose a simple, geometric derivation of this theorem that circumvents the usual difficulties that a student of this field usually encounters.

BRST Noether theorem and corner charge bracket

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We provide a proof of the BRST Noether 1.5th theorem, conjectured in [ JHEP 10 (2024) 055 ], for a broad class of rank-1 BV theories including supergravity and 2-form gauge theories. The theorem asserts that the BRST Noether current of any BRST invariant

Noether's Theorem for a Fixed Region

open access: yes, 2009
We give an elementary proof of Noether's first Theorem while stressing the magical fact that the global quasi-symmetry only needs to hold for one fixed integration region. We provide sufficient conditions for gauging a global quasi-symmetry.

Lagrangian Approach to Dispersionless KdV Hierarchy

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2007
We derive a Lagrangian based approach to study the compatible Hamiltonian structure of the dispersionless KdV and supersymmetric KdV hierarchies and claim that our treatment of the problem serves as a very useful supplement of the so-called r-matrix ...

An Extension of Noether's Theorem A: Spectral Flow Noether's Theorem in Dynamic Spacetime

open access: yes
This paper establishes a fundamental extension of Noether’s theorem in dynamic spacetime systems, constructing a complete mathematical theory of conservation laws corresponding to time-evolution symmetries through the introduction of spectral flow concepts and the eta invariant.
