Rogue wave statistics from a noise-like-pulse laser

Advanced Photonics, 2014
We report on experimental conditions in a fiber ring laser where noise-like pulse emission fulfills the rogue wave criteria. We highlight the role of dispersion, and use the dispersive Fourier-transform method to study spectral fluctuations.

Terahertz pulse generation by noise-like pulse from an Yb-doped fiber laser

Laser Congress 2020 (ASSL, LAC), 2020
We studied terahertz pulse generation by a photoconductive dipole antenna excited by noise-like pulses both theoretically and experimentally.

Simulation of terahertz spectrum generated by noise-like pulse

2019 44th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2019
We simulate the generation of terahertz radiation by using photoconductive antenna excited by noise-like pulses (NLPs). Our simulation results show that the bandwidth of THz spectrum generated by NLPs is narrower than by mode-locked pulses which is from same laser system in the low frequency region.

Low temporal radiation coherence of noise-like pulses

Laser Physics Letters
Abstract It is quite well-known that coherence is an intrinsic property of laser radiation. However, after the advent of noise-like pulses, it turns out that the temporal coherence of their radiation is low and the electromagnetic field oscillations in adjacent noise-like pulses are not correlated.

Using Reverse Saturable Absorption to Boost Broadband Noise-Like Pulses

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2020
Utilizing the nonlinear effects in a photonic crystal fiber to broaden the spectrum and reverse saturable absorption to further improve the flatness of the spectrum, ultra-broadband noise-like pulses (NLPs) were produced in a fiber laser. Guided by numerical results, a broadband spectrum with 290 nm 3-dB bandwidth was obtained, which, to the best of ...

Partially coherent noise-like pulse generation in amplified spontaneous Raman emission

Applied Optics, 2018
Amplified spontaneous Raman emission under picosecond pulse pumping is studied in detail both experimentally and numerically. It is found that the Raman output pulses are noise-like with partial coherence, which has important implications for various applications.

2H-MoTe2 based noise-like pulse erbium-doped fiber laser

24th National Laser Conference & Fifteenth National Conference on Laser Technology and Optoelectronics, 2020
We demonstrated the noise-like pulse (NLP) generation in an erbium (Er) doped fiber laser at 1560 nm based on 2HMoTe2. The saturable absorber (SA) was a film mixed by 2H-MoTe2 and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The moudulation depth of the SA was 21.4% and the saturable optical intensity was 10.3 GW/cm2.

Abnormal Noise-Like Pulse Fiber Laser for Disruptive Sensing Applications

2017 2nd International Conference for Fibre-optic and Photonic Sensors for Industrial and Safety Applications (OFSIS), 2017
Noise-like pulses (NLPs) are of interest as they can provide low temporal coherence, smooth and broad spectra and high brightness. Owing to these merits, NLPs can facilitate many optical sensing applications, such as hybrid interrogation of high-count low reflectivity fiber Bragg grating arrays.

Sub-Pulses Releasing From Noise-Like Pulses in a Passively Mode-Locked Fiber Laser

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2020
In this letter, we experimentally demonstrate various low-amplitude sub-pulses releasing from the rectangular-shaped noise-like pulses (NLPs) in a passively mode-locked fiber laser. Via incorporating a several hundred meters highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) in the cavity, a series of continuous wave (CW) components are observed in the output optical ...
