Noise-like Pulses as a Source of Pump Energy

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
This work analyses application particulars of noise-like pulses used as pulsed pump radiation for lasers (including Raman lasers) and amplifiers. The absence of a phase relationship between the electromagnetic field of the pump and that of the output ...

Graphdiyne-decorated microfiber based soliton and noise-like pulse generation [PDF]

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2021
Graphdiyne has an inborn band gap energy, where the minimal band gap is about from 0.46 to 1.22 eV, which shows great potential in ultrafast laser generation.

Automatic Generation of Noise-Like or Mode-Locked Pulses in an Ytterbium-Doped Fiber Laser by Using Two-Photon-Induced Current for Feedback

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
We present a simple, reliable, and fast method to automatically generate noise-like or mode-locked pulses in a fiber laser. To generate the targeted pulses, we employed two-photon-induced current from a photocell as the feedback signal to control a set ...

Generation of Mid‐Infrared Noise‐Like Pulses from a Polarization‐Maintaining Fluoride Fiber Oscillator

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2023
Noise‐like pulses (NLPs) are becoming increasingly attractive for a variety of applications such as supercontinuum generation, materials processing, and low‐coherence spectral interferometry. Related research in the near‐infrared region is extensive, yet

Genetic algorithm optimization of broadband operation in a noise-like pulse fiber laser

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The noise-like pulse regime of optical fiber lasers is highly complex, and associated with multiscale emission of random sub-picosecond pulses underneath a much longer envelope.

A thermophone-based FM sonar for airborne ultrasonic sensing under drone flight noise [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Bats achieve agile navigation, including obstacle avoidance and prey pursuit in complex environments, using a remarkably simple active sonar system consisting of a single sound emitter and two receivers.

Numerical analysis of spectroscopic studies using supercontinuum generated by noise-like pulses

open access: yesResults in Physics
Multiple Supercontinuum (SC) spectra generated by noise-like pulses (NLPs) were subjected to numerical analysis to assess their viability for gas detection.

Symbiotic coexistence of noise-like pulses

open access: yesOptics Express, 2021
Noise-like pulse (NLP) can split and then self-assemble into dynamic bound states, named NLP polymer. Here, we reported the first observation, to the best of our knowledge, of the buildup process of bound NLPs in all-normal-dispersion Yb-doped fiber lasers.

Noise-like pulse generation and amplification from soliton pulses

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
The evolution of soliton pulses into noise-like pulses in a nonlinear fiber externally to the laser oscillator is demonstrated at 1.9 µm, for the first time. Soliton collapse based mechanisms induce noise-like pulses with varying properties as a function of nonlinear fiber length without requiring any laser cavity feedback.

Noise-Like Square Pulses in Both Normal and Anomalous Dispersion Regimes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
Noise-like square pulses (NLSPs) have been experimentally investigated in both normal and anomalous dispersion regimes. A chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) has been employed as a dispersion management element in the compact linear-cavity mode-locked Yb ...
