Birefringence-Induced Trains of High-Rate Pulses in a Mode-Locked Fiber Laser [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2009
The output of a mode-locked erbium-doped ring fiber laser incorporating a section of a polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber is investigated in both numerical simulations and experiments.

Automation of Mode Locking in a Nonlinear Polarization Rotation Fiber Laser through Output Polarization Measurements. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vis Exp, 2016
When a laser is mode-locked, it emits a train of ultra-short pulses at a repetition rate determined by the laser cavity length. This article outlines a new and inexpensive procedure to force mode locking in a pre-adjusted nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser.

Dynamics of h-Shaped Pulse to GHz Harmonic State in a Mode-Locked Fiber Laser [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines
We experimentally and through simulations demonstrate a passively mode-locked fiber laser based on nonlinear polarization rotation, which generates the evolution from h-shaped pulses to GHz harmonic trains.

Nonlinear magneto-optical rotation of elliptically polarized light [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2003
We predict theoretically and demonstrate experimentally an ellipticity-dependent nonlinear magneto-optic rotation of elliptically-polarized light propagating in a coherent atomic medium. We show that this effect results from a hexadecapole and higher order momenta of atomic coherence, and is associated with an enhancement of Kerr and higher orders ...

A simple setup for in situ alkali metal electronic spin polarimetry

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
Faraday rotation is considered a gold standard measurement of the electronic spin polarization of an alkali metal vapor produced under optical pumping. However, during the production of large volumes of hyperpolarized xenon gas, transmission monitoring ...

Generation of h–Shaped pulse in a mode–Locked erbium-doped fiber laser

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
In this paper, the generation of h-shaped pulse is demonstrated in a nonlinear polarization rotation mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser (MLEDFL). The length of the entire cavity is about 2506 m to enhance the nonlinear effect in the cavity.

Pulse Dynamics of an All-Normal-Dispersion Ring Fiber Laser Under Four Different Pulse Regimes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Based on the coupled Ginzburg-Landau equations and Jones matrices of the waveplates considered, a numerical model of an all-normal-dispersion fiber laser mode-locked by nonlinear polarization rotation has been proposed.

All-Fiber Wideband Supercontinuum Generation in Short Hybrid Highly Nonlinear Fibers With a Femtosecond Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Wideband supercontinuum (SC) generation has attracted considerable attention due to its various practical applications in many fields. We report on all-fiber SC generation in hybrid highly nonlinear fibers (HNLFs) pumped with a femtosecond erbium-doped ...

L-band mode-locked fiber laser using all polarization-maintaining nonlinear polarization rotation

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2023
For the first time, to the best of our knowledge, in the soliton regime, we demonstrate an L-band fiber laser mode-locked by all polarization-maintaining (all-PM) nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR). A numerical study suggests that lengthening the NPR section boosts modulation depth and lowers saturation power of the artificial saturable absorber (SA)
