Buildup of Noise-Like Pulses in Ultrafast Fiber Lasers
2019 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe & European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO/Europe-EQEC), 2019Noise-like pulses (NLP) - the emission of sub-nanosecond incoherent pulses in ultrafast lasers — are a topic of widespread attention, owing to their fundamental and applied interest [1]. Their existence seems paradoxical, combining the high temporal localization of circulating pulses akin to mode-locking, with a fundamental instability that entails ...

Modelling of noise-like pulses generated in fibre lasers
SPIE Proceedings, 2016The present paper for the first time proposes and studies a relatively simple model of noise-like pulses that matches the experimental data well and suggests that there is a correlation between phases of adjacent spectral components of noiselike pulses.

Noise-like pulses: stabilization, production, and application
Journal of the Optical Society of America BVarious aspects are analyzed, which are related to the generation of unusual laser pulses with stochastic internal structure known as noise-like pulses. A new mechanism of their stabilization is proposed on the basis of an analogy between a noise-like pulse and a drop of soliton liquid. The properties of noise-like pulses are considered.

Simulation of terahertz spectrum generated by noise-like pulse
2019 44th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2019We simulate the generation of terahertz radiation by using photoconductive antenna excited by noise-like pulses (NLPs). Our simulation results show that the bandwidth of THz spectrum generated by NLPs is narrower than by mode-locked pulses which is from same laser system in the low frequency region.

Dynamics and statistics of noise-like pulses and Rogue Waves
Advanced Photonics, 2014Numerical simulations of three different mode-locked laser cavities are compared. Both normal and anomalous dispersion cavities are examined and the resulting statistics compared for evidence of Optical Rogue Waves.

Impact of cavity dispersion on the Noise-like pulse generated supercontinuum
Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science 2022 (FIO, LS), 2022Stable Noise-like pulse (NLP) operation is one of the attractive stable lasing state supported by a passively mode-locked fiber laser regardless of the total cavity dispersion. In this work, we have numerically analyzed the effect of cavity dispersion on supercontinuum generation by NLP. By using a highly nonlinear fiber of length 2 m, we demonstrate a

Terahertz pulse generation by noise-like pulse from an Yb-doped fiber laser
Laser Congress 2020 (ASSL, LAC), 2020We studied terahertz pulse generation by a photoconductive dipole antenna excited by noise-like pulses both theoretically and experimentally.

Noise-like pulses under different intra-cavity nonlinearity
Optical Fiber Technology, 2021Abstract We report on the influence of the average nonlinear coefficient on noise-like pulse (NLP) in a figure-of-eight erbium-doped fiber laser. Since the nonlinear switching point of nonlinear amplifying loop mirror (NALM) shifts with distinct laser configurations, through changing the length of highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) in NALM, properties of ...

Intermittent coherence recovery of noise-like pulses in fiber lasers
Optics LettersThe noise-like pulses in fiber lasers are incoherent clusters of disordered femtosecond subpulses, with a focused interest in the low-coherence light source and its related applications. However, whether the noise-like pulse can sustain its low-coherence feature still remains a fundamental question that is significant to ...

Intensity Estimation of Noise-Like Signal in Presence of Uncorrelated Pulse Interferences
Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2019The effective filtering of noisy signals is one of the topical and open problems of the processing of noisy signals characterized by the presence of pulse interferences. A robust approach to intensity estimation of noise-like signal in the presence of additive uncorrelated pulse interferences has been proposed.
