WHO Environmental Noise Guidelines for the European Region: A Systematic Review on Environmental Noise and Cardiovascular and Metabolic Effects: A Summary

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2018
To update the current state of evidence and assess its quality, we conducted a systematic review on the effects of environmental noise exposure on the cardio-metabolic systems as input for the new WHO environmental noise guidelines for the European ...

Long non‐coding RNAs as therapeutic targets in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and clinical application

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

The Synergistic Effect of WS2 and SWNTs on Tribological Performance of Polyether MDI Polyurethane Elastomer under Dry and Wet Friction Conditions

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
To adapt to the complex application of polyurethane bearings, it is feasible to improve the tribological performance of single polyurethane-based friction materials through the synergistic effect produced by multi-component-lubricating fillers.

A General Theory of Phase Noise in Electrical Oscillators

open access: yes, 2003
A general model is introduced which is capable of making accurate, quantitative predictions about the phase noise of different types of electrical oscillators by acknowledging the true periodically time-varying nature of all oscillators.

Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Preparation of polyethylene glycol brush grafted from the surface of nitrile butadiene rubber with excellent tribological performance under aqueous lubrication

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
The water-lubricated bearing will be in a state of poor lubrication when marine stern shafts operate under low speed and heavy load conditions, which could cause severe wear and vibration, endangering the stealth performance of underwater vehicles.

Acoustic characteristics of a cylindrical shell coupled to an acoustic cavity under complex excitations

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
In this research, we analyze the acoustic–vibration coupling of liquid-filled cylindrical shells under complex excitations. A calculation model to determine the acoustic characteristics and steady-state response of a cylindrical shell coupled to an ...

Earthing effects on mitochondrial function: ATP production and ROS generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In contrast to sham and naive controls, grounded mitochondria not only exhibit significantly enhanced energy production but also demonstrate a remarkable reduction in membrane potential and oxidative stress. This suggests a profound improvement in mitochondrial health, presenting a promising avenue for therapeutic interventions.

WHO Environmental Noise Guidelines for the European Region: A Systematic Review on Environmental Noise and Effects on Sleep

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2018
To evaluate the quality of available evidence on the effects of environmental noise exposure on sleep a systematic review was conducted. The databases PSYCINFO, PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science and the TNO Repository were searched for non ...

NMR screening of low molecular weight inhibitors targeting the papain‐like protease (PLPro) of SARS‐CoV‐2

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Papain‐like protease from SARS‐CoV‐2 plays an important role in the cleavage of the viral polyproteins and in the suppression of the host's immune response. Here, we present the results of an NMR screening study. We identified 86 binding compounds, of which five candidates were chosen for in‐depth analysis.
