A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Acoustic Characteristics of Four Subway Stations in Naples, Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Due to the presence of a large number of travelers and the high traffic of trains, subway stations are noisy environments. This noise prevents listening to safety messages, as well as affects people's conversations and health.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Impact of traffic simulation parameters on the estimation of noise exposure in an urban environment [PDF]

open access: yes
Since road traffic is the most impactful noise source in the European cities, the evaluation of citizens' exposure is crucial. Although the noise map accuracy is affected by uncertainties in traffic volume, to perform extensive traffic monitoring is not ...

Active noise control for high frequencies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
There are many applications that can benefit from Active Noise Control (ANC) such as in aircraft cabins and air conditioning ducts, i.e. in situations where technology interferes with human hearing in a harmful way or disrupts communication.

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

AIRCRAFT CABIN NOISE AND VIBRATION PREDICTION AND ACTIVE CONTROL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The active control of noise and vibration in passenger aircraft cabins generally rely on adaptive multi channel feedforward control of disturbing acoustic cabin modes based on a set of control sources and error sensors with optimized locations, or on ...
