Noise Exposure and Cardiovascular Health

Current Problems in Cardiology, 2023
Noise is considered an environmental stressor adversely affecting well-being and quality of life, inter-individual communications, and attention and cognitive function and inducing emotional responses, corresponding to noise annoyance. In addition, noise exposure is associated with nonauditory effects including worsening mental health, cognitive ...

The noise dosimeter for measuring personal noise exposure

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1970
A pilot study of personal noise exposure measurements with the use of noise dosimeters is presented. The value of objective individual recordings regarding the intensity and the exposure time is emphasized. Unexpected daily variations were detected also among employees assumed to work in fixed noise—level environments.

THE NOISE EXPOSURE OF INFANTS IN INCUBATORS.

Autumn Conference 1980, 1979
The noise exposure of infants in incubators due to both services noise and self-generated noise has been measured in an investigation involving 45 incubators and 69 infants. Incubator services noise levels were consistent with those reported in previous surveys but the noise produced by the infants has been found to increase levels by approximately 8 ...

Hypertension and Chronic Exposure to Noise

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 2000
The effects of noise on various cardiovascular parameters are conflicting and uncertain. In the current study, the authors studied 52 workers who were employed in a bedframe factory who were chronically exposed to noise and who had poor hearing. An additional group of 65 workers who had jobs in the light-metal sector and another group of 64 office ...

Interaction of kanamycin and noise exposure

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1979
The amount of hair cell damage in the cochleas of guinea pigs after exposure to different experimental conditions suggests that a 'safe' level of kanamycin has a potentiating effect on damage due to noise. Such an effect lasts more than 20 days after the cessation of the drug administration.

Safe Level for Noise Exposure?

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1976
The safety of long, continuous exposure to several different levels of noise was determined. Chinchillas were exposed for two or nine days to an octave band of noise with a center frequency of .5 kHz or 4 kHz. By examining the inner ear for evidence of acute cellular degeneration, exposures which produced minimal permanent damage could be identified ...
