Participatory noise mapping

2011
Participatory sensing allows for a person-centric approach to gathering environmental measurement data with, in principle, high gran- ularity in space and time. Here we report on a citizen science experiment for noise mapping a 1 km2 area in the city of Antwerp using NoiseTube, a participatory sensing framework for monitoring ambient noise.

The Role of the Noise Maps for the Noise Management in the Cities

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
The paper presents the application of noise maps in cities to reduce the traffic noise level on the streets. The division of noise maps, noise indicators for the evaluation of these maps as well as software systems used for creating noise maps are described in this paper.

Noise reduction for progressive photon mapping

ACM SIGGRAPH 2012 Posters on - SIGGRAPH '12, 2012
We present an adaptive noise reduction technique for progressive photon mapping, which preserves the consistency of the original algorithm. Although progressive photon mapping converges to the correct result in the limit, the image produced after a finite number of samples can suffer from both bias and noise [Hachisuka et al. 2010].

3D noise mapping in urban areas

International Journal of Geographical Information Science, 2008
Noise mapping is the process of determining and visualizing noise impact on the environment in order to support environmental policies. Currently most noise impact studies are based on a 2D approach. The 3D output of noise simulation software is processed and visualized in 2D and combined with 2D topographical and other data, such as population ...

Mapping the noise in a Greek general hospital

Science of The Total Environment, 2019
Sound pressure levels were monitored in a general hospital, in Greece, at ten indoor locations and at three outdoor locations, in the yard of the building. The selected indoor locations are representative of distinct activities that are common in every hospital, such as the emergency department, patient wards and several supporting services, like ...

THE MILAN AGGLOMERATION STRATEGIC NOISE MAP

8th European Conference on Noise Control 2009, 2008
The aim of this paper is to describe the procedure used for the Milan agglomeration Strategic Noise Mapping, as defined by Environmental Noise Directive (2002/49/EC). City of Milan is a complex case study because of the presence of a plurality of sources: road traffic, railway traffic (also tram traffic) and aircraft noise (Linate airport).

Mapping of Noise by Using Gis in ŞAnliurfa

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2006
Traffic noise results from highways where the most important source of noise in cities. This noise has the properties of linear source. Constitution of noise maps has become compulsory to see the regions that are influenced from the noise, and to put forward the future environmental approaches. During the mapping of the noise, generally two fundamental

Estimation of Dynamic Noise in Mandelbrot Map

International Journal of Artificial Life Research, 2017
Julia and Mandelbrot sets have been studied continuously attracting fractal scientists since their creation. As a result, Julia and Mandelbrot sets have been analyzed intensively. In this article, researchers have studied the effect of noise on these sets and analyzed perturbation.
